  1. I personally would like to get November out of the way first and then hopefully things will be a little clearer and more predictable. The MetO can only work using the available data which, in my opinion, seemed to be a fair enough forecast. We all know how quickly things can change from day to day/week to week let alone a full season's forecast. I don't think that we can look for wall to wall freezing conditions given recent winters, but I hope that at some point over the coming winter we will all have a reminder of what it can be like! Blitzen.
  2. Hello WX and welcome to Net Weather. Could you put in your location please? Blitzen
  3. So, my comment the other day that ' things were coming together nicely' wasn't so far off the mark then! Strange how it was picked out and included along with other hopeful comments. Not bad for a 'less sensible' post.
  4. Hello Carinthian, Not able to contribute much because of lack of understanding of the technicalities but I always look forward with interest to your posts. Everything appears to be falling into place nicely, lets hope it continues to do so. Are you more confident with the set-up this year compared to last? Blitzen.
  5. What a wonderful photograph BFTP is it Niagara Falls?
  6. Well i've been dropping hints all over the place as I quite fancy 'Frozen in Time' by Ian McCaskill. (The worst winters in living memory) Blitzen.
  7. Looking at the NW radar loop I don't know how we here in Fife managed to escape with a sunny, warm and dry day. It has been a lovely weekend here.
  8. I thought I caught a glimpse of an article somewhere last year about the Tundra permafrost defrosting causing it to turn into a soggy, smelly bog. Anyone know if this is continuing to happen? Blitzen.
  9. 2am Sunday, 29th October. Usually last Sunday in October every year. Blitzen.
  10. After a wet, dull and misty start, we have a wet, dull and misty finiDoh a dumb swear filter got the better of me Current obs. Temp: 14c Humidity 94% Pressure 991mb I hope my view improves tomorrow! <_<
  11. Very balmy evening here in central Fife also: Temp: 20.3c Humidity: 37% Pressure: 982mb
  12. There are so many conflicting opinions around this coming Winter, all with reasonable explanations. One thing for sure, every season of every year always seems to have a story/event worth discussing and I don't think that this Winter will be any different. In fact I think I will see if Dawlish will give me odds that this winter will also have a notable event attached to it whether it be Mild, cold, wet, dry there will be a tale to tell!
  13. Hello GP, Although your post is way above my head, I still find it interesting and thankyou. You refer in your post to a more traditional Autumn pattern. Can you explain more traditional? ie: are they mostly traditional, sometimes traditional or hardly ever traditional nowadays.
  14. Thanks for your reply Paul, it was most informative and appreciated. I was unaware that GW and AGW vs climate change could in fact be classed as 3 different things! It is obvious to me now that there is no definitive answer.
  15. Do you have a foot in both camps Paul ie: global warming vs natural climate change? Just wondered.
  16. Take your seats ladies and gentlemen (with the popcorn!) when Daniel reads this we will be in for an epic "I told you so." and when SF reads what Daniel posts his reply will be rib-ticklingly funny. Honestly this is more entertaining than the Oscars!
  17. Good morning from central Fife. Light snow cover this morning with shower activity continuing. Temperature 0.8c and rising, Humidity 76%, Pressure 1021mb.
