  1. I've come over all nostalgic..opened windows (as it's warm enough) turned the radio on quietly & enjoying the quite exhilarating sounds of Mother Nature roaring..Oh & a Prince tune from the late 80's just came on
  2. What began here 2 and half hours ago is still here & is getting more frisky rather than easing. Those to the East of me (Crazy Diamond) expect things to get worse with gusts & rain in the next hour or two at least. I have heard a few cars passing, going about their business as if all is normal out there, I suspect it's flying debris you should be aware of more than anything right now. Take care out there
  3. It certainly seems to be 'stuck on a loop'! Whips up a frenzy with rain thrown in for 10 to 15mins, then all goes fairly quiet for 5 to 10 mins then whips up again, then calms..rinse & repeat.
  4. Thanks I have looked there before & the closest one to me on there is 20 miles away. The readings I gave before are direct from the following station just a couple of miles away ~ http://www.metdesk.com/cheshamdata/ this station is situated at the bottom of a valley though and earlier in the year it did have wind speed and gusts measurements but they always always showed '0', so I imagine it's maybe to sheltered to record anything? Hence me having to use my ears
  5. Temperature 14.8°C Humidity 98% Dewpoint 14.5°C Wind WSW Barometer 980.3 hPa & Falling Rapidly Rain Rate 1.2 mm/hr Temp.@ Midnight was 11.6°C Light to moderate rain arrived here at about 2 am, another 20 - 30 mins before the gusts arrived and now it's almost constant gusting. I don't have any wind readings unfortunately but my ears say it's pretty loud and beginning to sound quite frantic
  6. Temperature 14.8°CHumidity 98%Dewpoint 14.5°CWind WSWBarometer 980.3 hPa & Falling RapidlyRain Rate 1.2 mm/hr Temp. @ Midnight was 11.6°C
  7. After several hours of complete calm, WEATHER has just swung up here into the hills. Light to moderate rain began about an hour ago with the first gusts of wind roaring in approx. 20 mins ago. Sounds quite lively & looks to get more so after looking at the Fax chart John has just posted.
  8. I've checked the GFS windspeed/direction for 03.00, alongside the 850's and comparing that to the doppler radar ( http://www.weather2day.com/radar/uk/23 ) track annnnd the lightning data @ Blitzortung http://images.blitzortung.org/Images/image_b_uk.png?t=23014122 that certainly looks like the path it may follow. I'm hoping it will continue to explode into life, wibble & wobble about enough to allow me to see some distant flashes if I watch the West..I'd like more but I think that my hope-casting is more than will happen *sniff sniff*
  9. I'm so storm-starved that I will have to resort to heading into Skyrim for a few hours to catch one
  10. I'll 2nd that Harve..and raise you by 40 minutes I'm not a fan of the earlier dark evenings but the upside is at least it's not broad daylight when I crawl into bed anymore.
  11. These are in the order I snapped them, it's the last 2 where the tower began to collapse which made me notice the similarity to your photos. The back edge of the tower (on the right hand-side of mine) appears to have a very similar look to that in yours (on the left hand-side). Along with confirmed times & directions, it seems quite likely that we were ogling the same cloud
  12. ESS, I think your photos may be of the same tower that I was also capturing on Sunday 8th Sept. at approx 18.40 to 19.00 hrs. Mine were taken from the opposite direction, looking South. I'll upload mine soon for comparison
  13. Temperature 6.8°CHumidity 89%Dewpoint 5.1°CWind S at 0.0Barometer 1001.1 hPa & Steady Beautiful morning, sunshine & clear blue skies, not a cloud to be seen in any direction ..yet!
  14. Have done 2 trips outside so far, seen a grand total of.... ONE! That was spotted facing NE, will go back out again in a while, once my nose has thawed out
  15. Yep that's just passing over me now, some lovely deep prolonged rumbles. Haven't spotted any lightning yet, the sun shining from the West scuppers any spotting really.
  16. Few rumbles'n'flashes & here comes the rain!!! Bit weird seeing a full moon at the same time though
  17. I'm only a couple miles south of you, I'm gonna step outside & do the Matrix beckoning hand signal
  18. Looking NEE towards Luton I can see quite a light show kicking off, lots of forked lightning during the last hour since I first spotted it. Pretty amazing orange pink strikes every 45-60 secs
  19. Everyone gave up & went to bed, even I got miffed and turned the radar off, xbox on...45 mins later I glanced outside to see it pelting down with snow! Settling fast on grass and sticking nicely to East facing surfaces, lamp post included.Peeked at radar again & it's whooshing up from the Channel, there may be some surprised but happy campers in the morning
  20. 20p flakes fluttering in amongst the constant 5p's Still only settling lightly & drifting on grassy area, rooftops & cars. Pavement & road just damp looking. Temperature 1.1°C Humidity 90% Dewpoint -0.4°C Wind ENE at 0.0 Barometer 1009.7 hPa & Steady
  21. Hahaha..Excellent Thanks for the welcome the other night btw. Slainte!! On topic ~ Very light flakes here now for last hour or so, blowing horizontal in the easterly gustings, pretty zoom-trails behind them which kinda makes up for lack of settling. Few sparkly white patches on the grass. More than I expected for tonights viewing so mustn't grumble.
  22. Here we go! What was light misty rain approx 90 mins ago rapidly turned into a sleety-rain snow mix which has progressed into ALL Snow now falling Strong easterly wind blowing like mad so nowt settling at the moment but intensity is on the increase.
  23. Thank you Blue Perfect excuse to pour a snifty nightcap and start gazing at radars! Damn, I'm such a nerd.
