Well it's better than no chance. Really not sure how tomorrow will pan out. Dry and very warm here, average and damp, thunderstorms. Who knows???

I guess like Friday, wake up and look at the radar for any nasty stuff moving north from the continent

That's the beauty of our weather, we seem to forget this when it is quite frankly pants!

Warmth and moisture usually a half decent combo for a storm lover - HP meanwhile shall return before Summer's out. No qualms whatsoever..

  2. These set ups are always rather tricky to pinpoint much detail re storm or convective potential, indeed things are developing quite quickly, making it all that bit more difficult to predict with much accuracy or timing etc - saying this, similar set ups have in the past produced the 'goods' for some. Not widespread by any means, but if you're directly beneath it, you're very likely to know about it Posted Image  others wondering what the fuss is about.

Even now, after a brighter drier slot, a pretty sharp downpour inbound..

  3. Remember the day of the Brum tornado quite well, although positioned app 25miles NW, weather was quite non-descript, breezy, only bright intervals in fact quite cool damp feeling - more sunshine suddenly appeared then humidity seemed to shoot through the roof! Go into overdrive, a massive dark base just grew from nowhere, distant thunder and lightning eventually prevailed..at one point the wind just went manic, just knew this was letting off some pretty serious weather somewhere..glanced at the exact time, rest as they say was history!

Was not surprised to hear the first reports coming in..

  4. that is an amazing photo....I know it's probably an effect of the lighting, but that lightning strike seems to be almost in clear sky!

Indeed. Ahead of the main 'event' there was some mammatus and lightning zipped across the heavens like you say..in what looked to be clear or just plain cloudy looking skies? Being mobile helped.. I saw this beast between Telford and Bridgnorth, heading south into the main core was in itself fun...opened the car window, the wind felt warm buffeting like crazy! One minute it was in the distance, next min wow...actually got as far as Bridgo..when all hell decided to break loose! massive raindrops, rain so heavy there was a fine mist just rising above the road ahead..now enveloped, turned back again, pulled over near a farm track and watched in awe...As already mentioned, the setting sun made for one amazing spectacle..this area to the left of the storm which was still firing on all cylinders :) I'd give it about 7 out of 10, extra point because of this sunset and storm combination?
  5. Doesn't look like it mate. Though I wasn't expecting any thunder activity tonight tbh, let alone 4 hours worth of thunderstorm activity!I'm going to have to retire as I'm knackered! While I'm getting flashes, some still quite near, majority of the activity seems to have moved a bit further East. What a fantastic couple of weeks :D

Lol you said that four hours ago...lol..zzz sorry :) 8am still on standby...one more'll do hehe..Nite nite all, been fun! More later.
  6. A few spots of rain now, but certainly not hail or thunder- why is it always down round Bridgnorth that gets it these days??

Direct hit today! Mass of rain, thunder and lightning all blown over from Hereford, Ludlow way. Either side, hardly a whimper.Big downpour, seems to be taking a more westerly track, typical that it isn't sparky though?
  7. sounds intriguing triple, was it the kiddy to bridgnorth stretch, or going up telford way? certainly would've placed most of the action up in shropshire. still raining fairly heavily here, a few hours of rain ahead perhaps. enjoying this weather before i head off to budapest on sunday evening, where itll be just shy of 40 degrees next week. If you think i'm bragging, im not. I'm camping and dreading the thought of such intense heat!

A442 north of Bridgo..not far off Worfield? Looked black as black, hit the wall of precip, pure madness! as I got to the island near the town centre, then double backed..found a spot and just sat tight? At several points, literally! It was just a noise, bit like sitting in a tin can being peppered during a pea shooting compo :) Enjoy your jaunt, if near on 40C heat doesn't go sparky...nothing will! Should be fun, fresh air, singing, open fires, local fire water maybe..
