  1. But climate is always changing?

I don't see any difference in the uk's climate. Its unpredictable and always been the same. This nonsense about the jet stream being further south. I recall growing up people saying  if we are to get a  good summer the jet has to move north. And  watching  clips from  the 60s  the jet stream was mentioned even then. It's not  a new thing. We are having a  run of poor summers..

  2. Our climate hasn't changed, we are just in a  run of poor summers. You can count on the fingers of one hand the great summers we  have had in the last 20  years.. that's because  we don't get summers like that every year. 1995/2003/2006..

Seems people have some kind of  glary eyed opinions of summer in the UK. Summers are rarely settled like our climate full stop.

That's why you need to count up how many good days you get compard to bad.. Speaking from my location  we had 10 nice days at the start of June.. 4 nice day recently.. and  hopefully a  few more to end the Month.. That's well over half the month of fine weather.. Sure theres been no heatwave.. But I still fancy our chances of getting one this year. Still July/August and September to go Posted Image

  3. Gawd almighty people complaining. June hasn't been that bad..July and  August are typically our summer months.. And  from my viewing of weather  in my life time. (no expert on the weather)  September is more realiable  than June. well the first 3 weeks..

Really warm evenings never appear in June. They are usually in mid July  early August.. Next week is looking alright to. Previous Summers have been  horrible. But this year  hasn't been that bad so far..

  4. Lovely day here near Leeds, think am being blessed with sunshine a lot of the country is under cloud again.Suppse to be nice again tomorrow.. So far June  as been  pretty good for my  neck of the woods... Never going to be  wall to wall sunshine from  day 1 to  day  30. But definetly settle for whats been sent down so far Posted Image

  5. what weather experts?  take  Paul  Hudson,  on Monday when he cameback from yet another holiday.. Predicted today, ie Friday to be  a nice day,in my location.. Guess what? its not.

No one knows what the pressure charts will be like in  a  5/10 day period never mind rest of the summer.

  6. June so far as been  pretty good well first 10 days.. (for me near leeds anyway) I know the east coast has been suffering with cold and cloud. If we can get another  6/7 good days out of the remainder of June.. That would be a  huge positive compared to last June in particular. Apart from today. Its  not felt cold at all for a while. That's another positive going into the rest of the summer..

  7. Was the  plume ever going to arrive?  the models can only predict something.. Doesn't mean the weather will actually  play ball. No point in  wondering what  the charts  say in a 10 day time frame. How many times do they change?.. Time  people accepted  our climate as it is.. and that's the most impredicatable weather on the planet..

  8. why?

i personally dont expect anything like last year or 07, but theres no reason why another washout summer cannot evolve after a nice start like 07. i for one wont be scrubbing those chances, as has been said - the background signals are not very promising atm for a warm, sunny, dry summer.

2007  in my opinion was  a worse than  last summer for rain.June will turn out to be average to good.  We'd need a  really  bad July and August to be anywhere near last year never mind  2007. July and  August   you will get some  good weeks in there..Models change  like the  "wind".. 2007 was  atrocious and a once off. This forum is here to discuss  models.. From reading through them. The beginning of June   some members were  equating the model outputs to  summers of 03 and 06.. and nearly 2 weeks of good weather.. Members are looking at the  Models and  now mentioning 2007.. Its either wonderful and marvelous or horrendous  and  despair..

  9. Well hey I hope ya get it too, but I'm at a loss as to why you'd wish that upon yourself. Care to elaborate?

Not really.. Just not had  any decent warm evenings  during "these poor summers"

And please don't edit out parts of my conversation  thank you.

  10. Yes I always class the first 3 weeks of September as summer simply because it can still get very warm the only downside then is the longer nights

I remember growing up..  at the end of summers we use to  get an autumn  high that use to stick around into October.. wasn't  hot  but the days  were  very pleasant.. Likes been  said  17c and   no wind   feels better than  21c and a NW wind...

We won't get a  summer like last  year, purely on the law of averages.

  11. Thankyou for the welcome Posted Image  Why is 2007 being mentioned  in regards to this summer? Its the same  reading the model forums.. the user who is looking for cold weather has barely typed a message  in recent times. The coming week is looking pretty good. Lets worry about what will happen or not happen  after that.. the English summer is  simple.. the more nice days you get  the  better  the summer will turn out.. You are never guaranteed  3/4 months of great weather. I always count September has a summer month..

Though I know its officially autumn.. So first week  of summer is  looking  not to bad. That's  +1 for  summer 2013.

  12. The met office keeps changing.. no one has a  clue what will happen. Take last Friday the weather forecast was  a mostly sunny day  for Saturday for a lot of of the country that's what the bbc had.. Then  next day  it was completely different. very cloudy.. a complete change  in the space of several hours. Same thing as recent years. Its all fine  predicting what the summer will be like. You can have all the models in the world. But no one knows..
