  1. Although we largely missed out on overhead storms here in Exeter I have to say I’m a little disappointed by the negativity on the page. There’s been some fantastic cloudscapes, storm clouds and structures we rarely see in this country, I’ve seen so many “it missed me by 3 miles” and I’m thinking I’d be in my car, on a bike, even on foot if there’s a chance that close? I photographed storms 20 miles from me whilst sat in the sun having a beer listening to distant thunder which was amazing. It’s been great to see so many people getting storms or being able to go out in a car and get close to one if it isn’t in your actual back garden. Anyway hope there’s a chance today but we are under grey skies and light rain here currently and it doesn’t look to be clearing anytime soon, I’d love someone to tell me otherwise though. Cheers everyone, any chance of someone posting up the charts for next week potential?
  2. Hi guys, I took this photo from outside the brewery earlier 4pm ish whilst waiting for 8000 pints to transfer, cell to left was over Dartmoor Heading towards launceston, cell to right over north Devon. The clouds were stunning today, could hear thunder from them. Anyway hoping for more tomorrow here in Exeter. Nice to see Lincolnshire not getting as much as usual, most of us are in envy of them as a rule! Not this time!
  3. I’m a lurker here who never posts but is always watching! Cracking cell just gone past me outskirts Exeter, thunder ever couple mins. Nothing mad but great cloudscape and enough to get my thunder fix for now! Mass rainfall too! Very happy
  4. I can confirm the rogue lightning strike near Exeter didn't happen, I heard a plane around this time as the rumbling lasted over a min but I'm pretty sure it was a plane not lightning, it's just been light drizzle for last couple hours, had some steady heavy rain earlier but nothing special, never mind other parts have done ok for thunder though, so those who have it enjoy It
  5. Yep we had one lightning strike in Exeter, lovely fork of lightning, wasn't that close maybe 5 miles away as thunder wasn't loud but I got my storm fix for the eve, we were at a friends house with a good view over Exeter. The start of hopefully a good season storm wise.
  6. Yep it's raining heavy in Exeter, though I'm not surprised there's no lightning, I don't think the right mix of ingredients are there, earlier plent of dark clouds went up but not very far up, far enough for heavy rain but not thunder clouds, people getting over excited on here, wait til June when we get a week of real hot weather with a plume the end, oh I can dream, however good luck and I hope some will see storms :-)
  7. First French import in Exeter, made it intact across the channel and really got going when it hit the cold air..... in the fridge!!! Screwtop as well from cite de Europe in Calais lol!!!
  8. Not sure what William is seeing, but the sky in Exeter from all directions is as per the pics above with the hot air balloons, there's a thin layer of cloud which you can see the sky through, hope people get storms but not sure how likely it is here tonight, bonus is the fact it's a beautiful eve, good luck everyone
  9. Is that them on the horizon above the hill? Been a good day for us down here as we usually get lots of crappy cloud blocking the view of anvils
  10. Ladies and gents here's some photos I took at work earlier in Exeter, this is the cell over north Devon at 6pm. Haven't seen a thundercloud like this in ages, normally low level cloud blocks it! Certainly a great start to 2016, lets hope for high temps and more of this type of stuff.
  11. about time for you map antz, I see your posts and you're now in the firing line, had one rogue flash in Exeter earlier but you deserve to see a decent storm, now when's it Exeters turn?
  12. wow that's amazing, normally down here in Exeter we seem to get lots of low cloud, I'd love to see an anvil from a distance like this, thanks for sharing hopefully we may get a storm down here tommorow eve
  13. Enjoy the show guys, just had the 1 strike here in Exeter earlier this morning, forecasters got it spot on. Thinking back to my childhood we got some memorable storms but because we had no idea what was happening 10 miles away let alone 200 miles away we never felt hard done by in regards to not having a storm. Hoping to get some here in Exeter tomorrow, failing that we have all of July, August, sept yet to come so fingers crossed, otherwise I've enjoyed a cold beer in the warm eve temps, win win situation I reckon, ps storm happy northerners can you get some more pics uploaded for the rest of us
  14. Looking promising though the netweather charts don't look so promising, maybe the storm risk maps will update soon? On another note estofex is back online
  15. Day off work today, can only say the storm was superb, constant rolling thunder and so much rain, the drops were the size of a 5p coin, plenty of lightning too, really pleased as we normally miss out when everyone else gets it, and the fact it's moved west to east means north cornwall is now enjoying this superb storm.
  16. hope you enjoyed the 4am wake up, I was impressed for Exeter as we normally read on here what everyone else is enjoying so makes a change for us to get a decent storm, kept an eye out this afternoon but there's capping I think stopping any developments
  17. Just spoke to my dad in st austell, they've had some decent lightning there but it's nearly passed through now, good luck everyone hope we all get the storms we've been hoping for, however I'm disappointed in the downgrade for Exeter on weather pro, no mention of lightning whereas last night it was a level 2! ha that's hilarious! Made me chuckle
  18. ha fair enough guys, I would have loved some thunder today but I felt that parts that normally miss out did really well today, great day for severe weather :-)
  19. Why are so many negative ref lack of storms, I mean considering it's still only May I've been happy with the radars today, a good week for storms I think, maybe just a taste of what's to come!
  20. increasing dark skies and rain in Exeter now, look at that lot in the channel though!
  21. Had first thunderstorm of the year here in exeter which was brilliant, lots of nice cloud formations as well as some great lightning, happy now
  22. after watching what everyone else has had Devon and cornwall have had nothing, we used to get great mcs storms years ago but not anymore, Nottingham is the place I reckon!
