Well looks like folk can put away their bbqs and flip flops and their 'How to be Australian' guide for the foreseeable.

Fantastic long range forcast on the met
Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days
UK Outlook for Sunday 13 May 2018 to Tuesday 22 May 2018:
Changeable to end the weekend with a mixture of showers and some longer spells of rain, as well as some drier and brighter weather. Showers will be heavy with a risk of hail and thunder, whilst more organised spells of rain are most likely to be across eastern and northeastern areas. Temperatures will remain on the cool side for many through Sunday, although becoming somewhat warmer into Monday. Through the middle of May there is low confidence in the forecast but there are signs that it may turn drier and more settled at times. Despite this, there remains the possibility of some mixed weather with rain or showers, perhaps most frequent across the northwest and far southeast. Temperatures are likely to become generally above average, with some warm spells possible.
UK Outlook for Wednesday 23 May 2018 to Wednesday 6 Jun 2018:
Confidence in the forecast detail through this period is low, but generally mixed conditions are expected for the remainder of May and into the start of June. The weather patterns will probably only change slowly, so this is likely to bring periods of dry weather, interspersed with shorter, more changeable spells with showery rain. There remains the risk that southern and eastern areas could see some thundery spells too. Overall, temperatures will probably be above normal, but there remains a risk for further very warm weather especially around thundery spells. Despite this, there could be some large contrasts across the UK from day to day.
That forecast could be summarised in three words "HAVE'NT A CLUE".
And as for the 'risk for further very warm weather' bit, what sort of rubbish is that????

I can't see it happening for me, but something to look out for if you have just (like me) done some planting of tomatoes etc. outside.
Bring on Summer!

Certainly cooler today in SW London.Quite nice to be honest. And those large pink creatures with hairy toes that were lolloping around on the district line seem to have hibernated again till the next hot spell.Thats looking a long way off now.

Am desperate for next week’s warmth and sun. Here we’ve had the 4th consecutive day of monsoon downpours, accompanied by fog - how can that be? Last week it drizzled most days, accompanied by occasional heavy rain. I can’t remember when the sun last appeared and my 13 month old big puppy buried himself yesterday morning and today even refused to come out of his sleeping crate. We both want to hide away from this cold, wet and depressing awfulness! I’ve had to drag him out for the past week to walk around the thick mud of our local fields. In the rain.
nb: the black bit is him under his day bed mattress.
No,he doesn't look very happy does he.He ll be fine when the heatwave arrives next week.
Though I can't for the life of me work out whats going on in the first pic!!

Sun is trying to break through now and temp up to 12C so I'm off to play on the allotment.
Potato planting time has arrived at last, nearly 4 weeks later than normal for here!
Yes,it's all a bit late this year. I normally put mine in early April for September harvest. Soil temperature is so low at the minute I'm going to leave it now till after next week's supposed warm up. This abject lack of sunshine doesn't help. Happy planting by the way.

Met longer range and charts going for the usual fare well into June.Generally very good summery weather down here in south with the odd thunderstorm.
Unsettled midlands northwards with the usual rainy spells and average temperatures.
Could it be yet another bust summer midlands northwards? Very possible imo.
