  1. Rain stopped here now, only had gusts of 40mph, not expecting much until midnight here on the very southeast tip anyway.
  2. The programme description actually describes it as 'a winter unlike any other' I thought bizarre was a better word but maybe not, anyhow I'm going to watch it because I can't recall a winter like it, even the lack of cold, despite the storms.
  3. Storm Nation Special on sky 1 at 8pm tonight, covering this bizarre weather we have had this winter
  4. A 'weather/disaster management guy' on sky news just said we will continue to have the bombardment of storm systems for another 2 weeks at least!
  5. Bricklayers, farmers, roofers, landscapers - 😭 Tree surgeons & tool hire (pumps) - 😠Driving through wingham, Preston, wickambreux, plucks gutter (Canterbury, Sturry areas) last few days. Plenty of flooded roads, sandbags at doorsteps, hoses pumping water out of cellars. Uprooted trees and I'm sure come Sunday there will be much more devastation up and down the country. I have lost a fair few days work this year, but I still get excited about a storm system approaching.
  6. Have to expect plenty more tree's to topple, certainly in my area there has been no respite in rainfall. The ground all over Britain must be absolutely saturated, probably wouldn't need 80mph gusts to fell a few more. Not to mention the flood situation.....
  7. There she blows! Doesn't look to be as bad, according to metcheck for my area, but I'm very new to this and apologies for starting a thread that isn't necessary. Not sure of decorum ;-)
  8. This airport is at the back of my house, http://www.weatherhq.co.uk/weather-station/manston%2C-south-east 61.1 gust, 41 sustained, picking up.
  9. Just starting to pick up nicely here, wind becoming more sustained and rain more intense and we are still way off the main event.
  10. I'm just sitting on Le shuttle, waiting to drive to Holland, will it still be stormy through France etc?? Going to center parcs, thanks for any info, I'll check back once at Calais ....
  11. Thanks knocker, looks lively then, good job we're going by tunnel and not ferry as they'll be cancelled.
  12. Hi all, great site, found it through weather watch uk on fb. Anyway, driving at 6am from Ramsgate (where we live) to Le shuttle on Monday morning. When in Calais we are driving through to a centre parcs in Holland. I know it's going to be a possibly hazardous drive, is there any chance this storm will be following us to our destination? Bloody typical, would happen with this timing ;-) Thanks
