  1. Quite a heavy shower happening directly to your North , - been wondering if it'll be the first spot for lightning today! --
  2. There is something that looks to have separated itself from the cloud mass, like a CB South of Aberystwyth
  3. I've been observing from the SE of the area, there are some towers going up in the North West , and I don't think I'm even seeing the main cloud mass shown on the satellite.
  4. Watching Sat 24 Development in Wales, - clouds forming a line from Neath Valley all the way to West Snowdonia are intensifying -- clouds look to almost not be moving, so if downpours and storms occur, could last a long time!
  5. nice to be on the border of the green zone -- it'll be my 4th time this week to be in a warning area, - Sundays storms missed by about 5miles!
  6. I think I found my answer - a dissipating thunderstorm - doesn't have energy to develop anymore , perhaps being on the coast it formed with a sea Breeze but its source no longer existed, so perhaps I saw just the puffy candyfloss clouds of a dying storm that never really full matured ?
  7. well we are talking 16-17 years ago, i'd been interested in the weather since 2000 when we had a number of very soggy Autumns causing floods almost every year. regarding 2006 , I've been looking at CB clouds - and if anything it looks like the upper part of this image (source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumulonimbus_calvus of course most CBs have this deep dark lower section but the ones I saw certainly didn't Cumulonimbus incus - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG Again the upper section of this somewhat resembles what I saw, a few of them , lighter in colour and puffy , with blue sky between each - it was just remarkably strange, I couldn't hear the thunder, but I saw the strikes. It's a test of memory, I have tried for ages to find pictures that match what I saw. I can see it clearly in my mind because it took my by surprise.. as an 18 year old, no tshirt walking along the beach to catch a glimpse of these odd thunder clouds while the hot sunshine just went on for the entire week.
  8. Wales weather: Met Office forecast thunderstorms WWW.BBC.CO.UK Porthmadog, Gwynedd, reached 31°C on Tuesday, the first time the UK has topped 30°C on 13 June. Always a bit dubious, - but forecasting for thunderstorms tomorrow and Friday into Wales and SW England ?
  9. thing is, it was elevated like it was a low mist touching a valley, but it was just 4-5 puffy clouds just in the Sea, with very visible lightning strikes from the Sea, - when you looked up, it was just more blue sky - or perhaps I could describe them as very very low level semi-transparent cumulus .
  10. Some discussion has been taking place in the summer model discussion thread , raising 2006 and the hot weather I was on holiday that year with my Late grandmother in WestonSM - the skies were blue but as we walked along the Sea front, there would be these small puffy clouds, almost like cotton candy floss, and you could even see the blue sky through them, - but these low clouds were producing a scattering of CG strikes into the ocean. There were no Cumulonimbus or anything that resembled a potentially stormy scene. So what type of cloud and storm was I seeing ? Has anyone ever experienced such phenomena ? Although rare to me as I don't live at the coast, are they more common than I think ?
  11. There should also be some similar development to your NW and West.
  12. There are some clouds bubbling up nicely approaching Weymouth - looks like it's nearly ready for some downpours if nothing more. - Shower in Southampton too.
  13. it's probably nothing , but while most of the cloud is moving Westwards in the Midlands - there's some oddity where some of it is stalling and building Eastwards - A line from West Birmingham all the way to Liverpool - A patch between Gloucester and Birmingham too.
  14. well the South Wales valleys are missing everything. - 3 days in a row (so far) All the Bristol storms on the South edge die out before they even reach the coast, and then they all erupt Just North of the A465 across the tops of the valleys. Still some time to go, who knows what will happen later into this evening.
  15. Both pictures have had contrast edited due to brightness, haze and various cloud levels obstructing a clear view - the first picture, above the lamppost is of the cell from Bristol the 2nd Picture east of that Cell and fair bit more distance behind it - may'be bath ?
  16. View of the Bristol Storm from Blackwood. --- interesting to note the clouds building up behind the Bristol storm, and if you have a keen eye also to the far left back of the photo.
  17. Bristol and to the South and SW looks like a breeding ground for storms!
  18. Thunderstorm in Wales, near Glynneath South Brecon --- looking to my S.E there are numerous towers - a little cautious hope for S.E Wales!
  19. my eyes are once again Peeled to South London, where there seems to be a tentative mass of cloud forming - and just East of that mass, there is a torrential shower.
  20. aside from the French import, there isn't much on the satellite with depth of cloud - the French import does seem to be growing All I hope is that's it's clear by morning to allow the temps to rise nicely.
  21. it all seems to be following in some S shape from Swindon to France, -- and I only say that because it looks like another has popped up East of Brighton.
  22. I'm trying, but a load of showers have pepped up over your area heading NW , quite pokey too
  23. what's with this line of heavy showers from winchester to SW Swindon o,o where did they come from ?
  24. Well it was a complete bust for South Wales - this mornings rain that stretched to the south coast did really inhibit us, although or the Northern edge, some storms did develop and through Brecon and the hills toward Snowdonia - Of course, it was the small parcel of cloud in South London that dominated events today, expanding in such ferocity to take on Heathrow Airport and cause absolute havoc - storms did try to form behind it and to the South West of the main storm, but they all seemed to fizzle out --- at the same time on the Northern edge, extending all the way to near Manchester, small cells formed .. in what would eventually form a large group of storms on the frontal edge extending from the M4 to Birmingham and beyond. - Later this evening, although weakening, the odd flash over the Welsh borders, and a final punchy push of the storm West of Lvierpool I've seen video of hail, funnels, frequent lightning and rain which can only be compared to the spray from waterfalls such as Victoria. satellite imagery shows a big ball of cloud stretching from The East English coast to Mid wales - and from the M4 to North as far as Manchester. -- What an incredible storm cloud that fills up nearly the entirety of the Midlands.
