Correct re a North/South split, a ‘max’ of 11.8c here today, currently 10.6c. Rained all day, Autumn is firmly here. Resisting the urge to put the heating on so far

Been a brilliant spell of weather as covered by folk over the last couple of days. Some warmth for all of us. Yesterday hit 24c on the button, today has been the warmest so far and still rising at 24.6c currently. Broke my hand so this warm spell is quite welcome to distract from the boredom until I can get the cast off! Had a lovely walk in Ae forest yesterday:

Fully agree. I always say Summer (certainly for Western Scotland) is mid May - start of July. Usually goes on the turn during July (humid, muggy and wetter) and just declines. Can think of a few good highland shows for example, certainly some baking hot Cheshire show years, Cumberland show (which are 3rd week in June or earlier). Whereas Dumfries show is first week in August, i’ve gone pretty much all my life. Very very few sunny days. Usually cloudy with a chance of rain. As others have said, Autumnal is the word. Was working at 3am last night, 8c and I was getting the nightshift shivers. Weekend just gone was a shocker for July, monthly rainfall now at 141mm so about 155% of average.

An Incredibly humid feel despite the lower temperatures (currently 17.4c). Should still reach about 21c today. Welcome rain overnight, 17.4mm according to the nearby SEPA site. As others have said, it’s a start but only that really. More rain forecast for tomorrow so hopefully a fairly wet week eases things.

Was just south of Strathaven today, nice areas of countryside when you turn off the M74 at Lesmahagow. Fields still pretty Green with some decent growth, no deep yellow like back home. There was even a few spots of what the locals were calling ‘rain’. I’m unsure if I knew what it was… not enough to wet the ground. Cloudy, muggy and at home it’s just over 22c. Rain please arrive.

Yesterday was a little cooler than of late at 25.6c. Today warmer again, 27.4c. We’ve now started to cloud over. Average max for the first 16 days of June 2023 - 24.7c. Incredible. As Shuggee said above, 7 days in a row of > 25c. 2 days earlier in the month made over 24c. Thankfully, it’s looking like cooler and most importantly wetter conditions will start to push in from the West. Daily maxes still look like reaching the low 20s.

Back home made 26.3c today, sunshine dawn to dusk. Thankfully it was just as good up near Ballachulish. Droving through Glencoe was nothing short of spectacular. Got Sgorr Dhearg ticked off however sadly underestimated how much water we’d need for the two munros and decided we would have to miss the second one, i’ll come back for it. IMG_8910.MOV

Massive East/West split. I’m at an average max, after yesterday's record breaker (locally for June - which was posted above), of 24c. I get very similar weather to the NW of England and i’d say the length of this dry spell has been exceptional. I’ve certainly never known anything like it. People’s opinions regarding this month will be polarised. In terms of ‘summer’ weather then i’d give it 10/10. The only issue is it’s too dry, we need rain and are not going to get it.

26c last night which was far too hot when having dinner. Thankfully, as a shift worker, in winter I invested in an Aircon unit. A god send. Getting used to the noise now and slept fairly well last night, bedroom kept at a steady 21c all night. Rose back up to 25.6c a short time after I turned it off.

Yes, unsure what the most notable part of this warm spell is. I suspect the lack of rainfall. Even if we include all of May (which had some rain in the first 10 days)… Compared to the average for the two months May (84.5mm) and June (81.4mm) we are are 16% of average so far. June only having recorded 1.2mm so far (I thought we’d had more on saturday night but SEPA says otherwise) However on the heat front, before today June’s average max is well above average. Interestingly, my nearest met office site (which they don’t release daily data for) has seen it’s average June max rise from 17.4c (1981-2010) to 17.9c (1991 - 2020). We’re currently at 23.42c as a running max for this month which is 5.5c above normal. If we get 30c today then we’d be at an average max of 24c. I see Keswick is top at the moment. It’s currently 28.1c here. Too hot, I far prefer temperatures between 21-24c than this. Pray for a breakdown next weekend
