Humidity looks really high in places castlederg is 99% temp 0.9 it just wont snow in them conditions unless its prolonged and evaporating sets in. Link below for anyone looking to calculate there chances of snow will fall.
Humidity could well be the killer tonight for some as everything else is in place.
http://www.sciencebits.com/SnowProbCalc?calc=yes
Snow starting to fall here now again
Temp 0.1c Humidity 91%
Met eireann Station recording snow at 96% humidity,
BALLYHAISE CAVAN http://www.met.ie/latest/reports.asp
Also according to that link Castlederg would have a 60% chance of snow
And at 6pm Castlederg from Met office is 0.6C 97% humidity so that would be 90% risk

Unbelievably the BBC forecast was kind of correct. Rain taking long to turn into snow once hitting land!
It was supposed to be snow, changing it at the last minute doesn't make it correct in my book ha

Looking at the radar, the areas seeing snow now have sleet/rain following on behind it. High ground will be different of course

There is no more snow left, not even dusting. Not much on the cars too, Officially disappointed now. I thought we'd get something from this it looked all so promising, the organized band of showers turning as sleet instead of snow only confirms that for me atleast it's all over.
3 minutes ago, BREIFMAN11 said:Yeah same for me. For my location anyway, too wet and still rainy, this was the organised band of "snow" I was waiting for ha. Elevation above 100m around me all white. Lets hope the sleet here turns to snow for others. Huge letdown, wasn't expecting much other than a dusting of 1cm or 2cm tbf

Sleet is more of rain than snow now, soaking out.

Snow has turned to sleet just as it was starting to give a little dusting

that big shower is just starting here sleety mix, on the radar when then showers pass high ground they seem to go back to sleet
I'm low ground, 100% snow with me. Just started to snow again.

Barra gave out a weather forecast on the tellie and it showed rain (mostly rain) and sleet for the north and west as the winds change direction.
Did he say mostly rain, or was that for coastal areas only?

According to the BBC lunchtime weather looks like sleet at best for the northwest this evening. Unless you live up a mountain.
Huh?

Yes showers are rapidly disintegrating once they make land fall.

Snow warning for Western half of NI for tomorrow removed. It'll probably snow more in the West tomorrow now

Sleet showers on and off all day, still patchy snow cover. Idk how seeing as we only had 1cm covering. At dusk above 130/150m was still pure white. I thought 2.5 days of snow cover earlier in the week so even though it was nice it snowed it was a pile of crap tbh considering expectations and lack of sleep spent lamppost watching
