  1. Ok, to say what I thought and asked about earlier, there seems to be no action whatsoever in the English Channel, yet. Still the BBC and the Met Office showing much action tonight if anything.
  2. Here is a webcam placed right in the middle of that thunderstorm: http://www.northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk/parklive/webcams/ingramwebcam
  3. Hmmm, not much mention of thunder. When the BBC mentions thunder it definitely thunders.
  4. The rest of the UK certainly had one hell of a good time, I can't believe I slept through it.
  5. I have to say, the amount of cumulus over N France is encouraging meaning there is more chance of something being elevated, later.
  6. So, does that mean that the showers will develop over the English Channel not over France and that the clouds will have high tops to them?
  7. Sounds good. Imports are much better than home grown thunderstorms here especially in the Summer because the land heats up more than the sea hence the recent sea breezes. However, in the winter home grown thunderstorms are better because they develop over the sea better than over the land. I'll just have to wait and see. Let's just hope they happen at the right time and not in a GCSE exam, this week.
  8. I'm slightly worried about this and I don't know why. The clouds over N France and tiny cumulus clouds and nothing is elevated yet. Hopefully, they will start getting going later and quickly drift over the English Channel. But, BBC Weather are showing a dry but cloudy night. I wonder what will happen. I'm certainly not getting my hopes up. Does anyone know or take a guess on when the storms will start over the English Channel?
  9. I wasn't up to witness this but the thunderstorm of 28/06/2012 was a blighter. There was torrential rain, thunder and frequent lightning and it developed within minutes of forming. To make it interesting, the storm came over Newton Poppleford at around 03:00 which is in the early morning. So, there was definitely no durinal heating to aid the thunderstorm development. In fact, the thunderstorm's highest rainfall rate is the all time records highest rainfall rate recorded at Newton Poppleford Weather of 147.6 mm/hr 03:27 28/06/2012.
  10. Not sure where these showers are supposed to come about from France later this evening. Maybe convection?
  11. Lets just hope these "heavy" showers will be "thundery showers".
  12. After looking at the charts last night, we have a lot of potential in the evening's this week, here. Fingers crossed.
  13. It is very warm outside now. A few cumulus clouds bubbling up. There may be a few heavy showers inland and if we're lucky some distant rumbles of thunder later. But, I'm not getting my hopes up at this stage in the day.
  14. Well said. From someone just younger than me with that information is incredible.
