  1. It's like colour by numbers and learn the US states as you go!
  2. You canny bugger! Don't put your hands in the beer by mistake...
  3. Yes, we have a 0.5 limit here and I don't want to breathe the stuff in and have to explain to a Gendarme, or have them smell it! I've loads of hydrocortisone cream for eczema flare ups and I'll use soap in between to wash hands. I have a lovely little ex-perfume spray bottle...
  4. Managed to find 90% alcool modifé in the local shop and I bought a few bottles. I'm going to make a hand gel tomorrow. It'll probably set my eczema/dermatitis off in bucket loads but at least I can properly clean my hands when I am out and about as some clients won't allow extraneous products - one man, close by, is an example, even though he is very less than mobile, anything you leave that is not his has mysteriously gone by the next morning and I suspect he asks his neighbour to dispose of it!
  5. Lack of education (maybe absorption of education - let's be gentle), lack of information and lack of control...
  6. When I went to Hangzhou several years ago, I was told that the city had expanded by 25km in 5 years. Have you ever seen a new ALDI or LIDL being built? Basic metal framework and breeze-blocks, then cladding. That is what these dwellings are likely made of. Yes, there could have been fire accelerating chemicals stored as well. There's a very different health and safety world out there - I'm not saying it's worse or better but there will always be accidents.
  7. No, it's to shoot the person in front of them with all the toilet paper!
  8. "Virologist Chris Smith, presenter of the BBC radio talk show The Naked Scientists, told the BBC in a Q&A with members of the public that, at the moment, the level of circulation of coronavirus in the community in the UK was “extremely low”, and thus the risk of catching it currently “remains extremely low”. Smith said there was a very low chance of getting infected with coronavirus via items such as parcels. Asked whether the new coronavirus could mutate quickly into new, even more aggressive forms, meaning that patients would likely not enjoy immunity even after they had it, Smith said that, judging from currently available observations about the outbreak, Covid-19 was thankfully changing shape “only very slowly”. He added that asthma sufferers taking steroids, which compromise the immune system, should take active steps to avoid catching coronavirus because they are at increased risk of developing severe illness. This was easier said than done, he admitted. Toys for small children could be cleaned very effectively in the dishwasher, Smith advised." (Source: Guardian live)
  9. Just looked and thought - that's similar to something Nick S. mentioned earlier about the need for churches to respond - then saw it was the Express and didn't bother going any further...
  10. Just looked at my ALDI ones and there is no percentage given. I looked at Zeiss online as we have some of these too and they say a "gentle alcohol solution". No idea - anyone else...
Sorry, can't find anything detailed in English but you'll get the drift in French. Religion is a great social control - sex, marriage, death - control these through mis-guided belief and fear and you've got it. On the subject of religion - that gathering in Mulhouse had no registration system, so there is no way of tellling nationality, residency or anything else about who attended unless they volunteer. There were over 300 children in attendance. For a lot of them - no one knows - and no one knows is not a good position right now. It was an evangelical event and came with a lot of touching and kissing etc. What seems to be the case is that they spread back afterwards, virus in body, to many different corners of France and some beyond...
  12. This would bring tears to anyone's eyes - of sadness and of joy at the sheer humanity of some folks:
  13. Why can't people bring their own personal cups? Or is there some irrational, dogmatic dictate against this as well? The god-squad have to give way on this along with everyone else - aren't they supposed to "love thy neighbour as thyself" and all that - most basic religious tenets are very humane even if you don't believe in the supernatural bit - they need to start putting the human bit into practice a bit more.
  14. I don't have a bidet but I have used one on many occasions and they work ever so well. The shower head is just as good - people just need to make sure that they clean the shower properly after using it for this purpose. Not difficult and neither is a basin and mitt/flannel.
  15. The header on BFMTV live still says 613 from this morning, so I think they must have updated from last night and now again. No regional breakdown on cases that I can see yet. I guess it will emerge.
  16. I understand the psychology but still don't understand why people would get into such a state about toilet roll. The principle of the bidet is that you can wash your bum in a dedicated sink, with or without the need for toilet paper and it's probably both kinder to the environment and the delicate skin around your back passage. So if you run out of bog roll you can always just use the shower or a specially reserved basin and flannel. In my job I have to wash the occasional bum and a very clean result is perfectly possible with soap and water.
  17. I already posted this but have just noticed that France now has more cases than Germany, which has 684.
  18. Nick and I have already mentioned the psychology of the need for control which then leads to FOMO (fear of missing out). FOMO is very well exploited during events such as Black Friday, where people will buy all sorts of "specially reduced for the sales" crap for fear they may be missing a bargain - it's just that they haven't done their research.
  19. 716 cases in France now and sadly, 11 dead. I've just been out for a nice run to clear my brain of all this...
  20. No, I'll have a look but I'm not sure whether anyone knows...I'll get back if I find anything out.
  21. I corrected this post - there are 5 new cases in NA all linked to Mulhouse. I'm moving to the self-soothing département bubble now though!
  22. 5 new cases in my region of Nouvelle Aquitaine, all linked to people who came back from the religious gathering in Mulhouse. None in my départment yet, thankfully.
  23. 3 cases in Aude, France, now. Used to be a big haunt of ours when we had our apartment down there and it's a very popular tourist destination.
  24. Two people have now died in Florida from COVID-19.
  25. "Toilet paper wipe-out fears escalate It's inspired such hashtags as #ToiletPaperEmergency and #ToiletPaperApocalypse - and the surge in demand for loo roll does not appear to be slowing down. One Australian newspaper even printed a jovial eight-page "toilet paper" pullout section this week, for those who may have run out. And the frenzy appears to have spread, with barren shelves - where the sought-after paper once sat - appearing around the world including the US and the UK. For some, though, the situation has escalated. One man was reportedly tasered by police in the country this week, after getting into an argument with staff over the product. And a video widely shared online appears to show three women pulling each other's hair in a struggle over a particularly large pack in Sydney. But things have worked out well for one couple. Chris Janetzki, 35, and Haidee Janetzki, 33, say they accidentally spent A$3,260 (£1,600) on 2,306 rolls last month. And Mrs Janetzki does not look [photo not included] too upset by the error... "Psychologists and consumer experts have linked the surge in demand on herd mentality, FOMO syndrome - or Fear Of Missing Out - and the convenience of modern lifestyles." (Source: BBC live)
