Temp has risen from 1.9 to 3.0 in the past hour in NW Bristol since the clouds have rolled in.
Not sure about dewpoints but watch this space...........................
Thanks Ian for the dp. Right on cue!

Is it Chartviewer who posts the Chinese model CMA on the MOD?
I think he may be onto something as our local chinese take-away has shut up shop half a hour earlier tonight & it's just started to snow again lol )))))))
These chinese folk obviously know something I don't!!
(Temp a steady 1.2)

Anyone watching Rain Today?Last 2 frames have just decided,"no no no, Nobody is having any PPN, I'm taking my ball and going home"
£3.49 for the Net-Weather v6 radar. Only bought it yesterday and had my moneys worth already & recommend it, especially on evenings like this!
-
Not sure whether that band currently over Brecon/Abergavenny will reach us intact. I have my doubts but it may produce a little more light snow.
Still the lightest snow falling here, so has been snowing for 1hr 45m and now kids trampoline has a light coating, as well as car roofs & my shed!
Temp 1.2 (No idea of d.p.)
21.35 - just about stopped. Literally just the odd sporadic flake now
-
Snowing here, albeit very lightly for a hour now. There is an icy coating on the top of cars and a bit on my shed, but it looks to be petering out now, as others have pointed out
Happy days. Lets hope for later in the week / next weekend.
Temp 1.4

Yep, can confirm there's been light snow falling in NW Bristol for the past 5 minutes or so.
Temp just risen to 1.7
Right, time for the countryfile forecast!
-
Great analysis by AWD a couple of hours ago. Much appreciated although I know where I'd love to shove that proxy wet bulb!!!!
Anyway, I've also stumped up for the premium radar for the next month just in case something worthwhile pops up!
After a few wet flakes earlier, temp dropped to 2.5 then rose to 3.2 and now back to 2.9
-
First signs of the wintry mix appearing here in North Bristol. Temp just sneaked under 3 degrees and turning more to snow as I type, though extremely sporadic & light.
Must be pretty damp on the South Coast as Bournemouth's match this afternoon may be abandoned & Pompey already postponed.
-
Starting to feel pretty raw out there now the sun's going down & the wind is picking up, although the temp is still a balmy 4.2! (down from todays max of 4.7)
My heart is still ruling my head a bit with the next few days prospects. Let's hope the heart prevails!!
I guess it's time to chill for a bit before the up's & down's of the 12z rollercoaster lol

. Who Knows We use EC, UKMO-GM & MOGREPS as Steer " @AndrewDodd3 : @ Fergieweather Meaning the GFS SHOULD West as we move back slightly Closer? "
Ukmo
It's come out a bit skewiff on here but yes, I asked Ian whether the GFS should back slightly west as we move closer.
Many thanks to Ian for his reply and not read too much into it except that the UKMO model we see at least is that bit further west in the reliable(ish) timeframe. All eyes to se EC later although I wish there were precipitation charts we could get our eyes on.
-
One for the bin i suspect!
GFS chops and changes too much these last few days.
Remember Ian said MetO dont really use it that much, esp past a few days in the future.
I suspect you're spot on.
GFS' 3 consecutive runs today have all been completely different so there's not even consistency in their own output from approx T96
Having said that, I hope it's right for Saturday PM onwards!
-
Think I'll stay away from the Model Output Discussion thread until they've calmed down.
The 18z looks to have had it from Sunday PM onwards, as far as the "slider" on Monday is concerned
Don't fancy being a mod or a forecaster in these situations!

Will someone put me out of my misery, I'm trying to remember the name of the BBC weather presenter who was a bit of a cold lover, he stopped a couple of years back?
"Sir" Rob McElwee by any chance?
-
Ian mentions the SSW on tonight's forecast just now, in prep for POSSIBLE change to colder weather in 2nd half of January.
Top bloke in our neck of the woods - we're lucky!
Yes, was an excellent forecast, I guess helped by the benign weather we're currently experiencing allowing more time for Ian to explain SSW in some detail, and yes we're blessed to have him as our own
Ian, please keep up the good work on here & twitter. It's certainly not unnoticed!!!!
-
More to come I think too.
The radar reminds me a bit of that snow-streamer we had a few years ago where the showers seemed to funnel up the Bristol Channel.
Shame the temps are a couple of degrees too high to repeat that event tonight though
-
I think Ian got a little short of time but explained the basic situation, and said an attack could happen from the SW but also stated there was no sign of it yet. Follow the Points West Facebook page and it should be uploaded onto there soonGreat TV forecast by Ian ferguson on our BBC local news just. By next Tuesday possible low pressure heading up from the SW with snow but he did say some way off.
Oops soz Bristol Baggie, I see you've corrected yourself already!
-
Well, the latest 18z NAE still gives a little hope overnight & into the morning, although still only very light precipitation is showing.
-
Will Cardiff get some?
What do you reckon Jay?
-
don't think I can stay awake much longer waiting for it to arrive!
Was just thinking the same. Think I may have to turn in. Let's hope.....
-
Is it coming this way to North Bristol or what?
If it takes much longer, the Stella will kick in & I'll pass out and miss it.....again!
-
I am currently having a meeting with my goof friend Blossom Hill. We would never have met if I had remembered to buy milk for myself when I went shopping for the oldies. I may need to move on to my good friend Mr Grouse, although I fear tomorrow mornings hangover from hell if I do this!
May even bump into Jack later too (Daniels) or maybe even Jim (Beam)
-
Nearly stopped here now, got a fresh dusting on areas that had been cleared which is good - now time to go see my dear friend Stella (Artois)
-
Check out the ppn radar if you have it - the next lot over Yorkshire is meaner than this one and originates in the same place! Lets hope it has enough energy to come our way too...
I've got a feeling there's more of an easterly component to the wind now, so I fear that will miss us all and drift into mid-Wales (if it gets that far). Shame.
Anyway, snowing moderately here now
-
Anyone want to comment on Sunday's 'event'? News24 weather update 30 mins ago seem to indicate a 'non-event' for us, totally different from forecast i saw this lunchtime on news24!
From my take of it, it seems to be a 2 to 5cm event of fairly persistent light snow event (kind of a grim drizzly day if it was warmer). Hope it's more though.

Well the pub run has come up trumps. No way am I taking this too seriously, but it has certainly brightened up the already happiest thread here on Net-Weather even more.
As others have said....BANK!
It's eye candy for eye candy. But I'm sure it'll be different again come 04.00 tomorrow am.
