  1. Can someone prove to me that there was not heavier enough rain over the SE(yellow zone) to warrant a yellow warning?

The rain rates in places did meet the warning criteria, the zone in which it covered does not mean everywhere would receive the large amounts or heavy rainfall forecast, these rainfalls can be varied and local, the only time as far as I know to use more local warning's, (example: London) during thundery outbreaks is where homegrown thunderstorms develop locally, how can we know where exactly gets the heaviest downpours locally from such an imported system?

Ironically, here in the Wrexham area it has been raining for around 6 hours, torrential for the last 3 hours, with a fair rivulet running down our hill which may well flood houses further down, yet we are not even in any of the warning areas, despite clear radar indication that we would get a fair share of downpours. Maybe it's because of the lack of thunder activity, either expected or received (we never usually do anyway, one thunderstorm in 4 years)?

    Still warranted a warning!

  2. Well over a foot ( one sheltered point in the back where it stuck first is 15 inches) here in Chirk, and still it falls. Worryingly the lights keep flickering, so looks like we may lose power soon. In addition one or two large conifers are making some evil noises, a couple of branches have already snapped off with the weight, but one tree in particular is worrying us, and it's big...

  3. Can confirm nothing thundery in the Manchester lot, but sferics showing in the stuff in E Wales atm.

Seems to have died out here as quickly as it appeared, maybe a dozen visible distant flashes, now can see the stars again. Oh well that's another storm to miss us, none at all overhead this year!!!

Manchester routed airplanes now flying over us as well, but just noticed another faint flash to the East of us, maybe Crewe next?

  4. Sea breeze front from SW England north across Welsh borders and over the Pennines building Tcu this afternoon, some bight echoes suggesting heavy showers just west of Oswestry, Shrops over the border in East Wales.

Looking 06z NAE, MCS perhaps drifing NE across SE England Sunday morning, thundery rain across The West as an occlusion (seen on fax charts) moves in from the west:

5 Miles WNW of Oswestry, went very dark around 30 mins ago but it's lifted since. Maybe over the mountains it could brew up later.
