  1. I think this would be striking a balance regarding schools - maybe allow at risk groups some time away - if required - but then how long is long enough?
  2. One of the kids at bubs school has just beaten Cancer. We are still being told if our kids get illness such as chicken pox we need to make sure the schools knows. Look back at my post regarding those kids going to that wedding - any of them could carry it, but be 'fine'. I hope and pray for that little one it doesn't come near here.
  3. Well it's doing a mighty fine job of showing what a bunch of arceholes the human race really are!
  4. As if people think we are all in this together though Pete? Most people seem to either not care, it won't happen to them, if it gets it gets me, yes I need all this pasta and loo roll, and there is no need to worry. Very self self self. This is a virus, imagine a war. Can't see people these days digging up their lawns and growing their own and swapping a bunch a carrots for a sack of tatties. People would just go and help them selves to someone elses garden. I really don't see much togetherness in this.
  5. Personally, this wouldn't give me much problem, but I doubt my Daughters school head would do this, the head got enough grief when school was closed one half day because of the Beast From the East and the snow. The thing that worries me is 2 kids are going to a 'virus outbreak' area for 6 weeks to a wedding, and the school needed to be reminded of this virus. 6 weeks! I got a snotty 'we are watching your childs attendance' after 2 days.
  6. Schools need to more clean full stop. All i ever see from the cleaners at bubs is emptying of the bins and a half hearted walk with a hoover that doesn't look like it could pick up anything. I hope they at least wash the sinks and bleach the loos - the drinking fountain was an absolute disgrace. They ask the kids to take their shoes off (as it supposed to make them more comfortable) which doesn't bother me, what does bother me is the fact staff doesn't do the same and bubs socks come back black just from walking on the carpet alone.
  7. Used to spend quite a few Sundays going there, we would stop near a local Holiday park, spend a few coppers in the amusement arcade then stop off and get some fresh fish for tea.. Very quiet and eerie.. well I thought it was!
  8. I'm just a witch. Gah. This thread isn't doing the anxiety much good. *leaves* Stay healthy and sensible everyone.
  9. yep Christmas was for me too. Although I wouldn't of said I had a chest infection. more like ' I have no idea what it was, never had anything like it before'
  10. It's the same thinking of all the people at all the schools today, it just takes one person to past it on to maybe 400 kids (here) which then past it on to their parents/grandparents that then go to work and Stop it Dami. You know better.
  11. I can well believe it. I left that monster since becoming a Mother, but after being a Checkout Supervisor for 5 of the years I worked in retain, I can safety say what of load of tossers the general public are. (Still have a scar on my leg after being rammed by a customer's trolley because' i was walking too slow' rather than say excuse me) The filter not working?
  12. should be going to a massive dance off competition, all schools in Bedforshire. It's the East finals before the nationals. wish me well. @Mattwolves I am not having any panics about this virus at all, but reading ok to dead in a few hours, i'm sure would worry anyone not just us with anxiety. Oh my.
  13. When it was all about swine flu, hubs got it as did a member of staff where i worked, 20 odd weeks pregnant and didn't even get a runny nose.
  14. The media, as usual, aren't being very helpful. Yes report we have a virus that can kill, but c'mon. No wonder people are going stupid.
  15. Yeah I'm quite gald I don't have to use MK services. That Hospital has had nothing but bad reviews.
  16. Just to add, Bedford sainsbury's photo sent by hubs : In all my years of retail, (22 years) I have never seen such idiocy.
  17. HI! I do miss clear sunny days on the coast! Used to spent hours on beachy head wondering if i could see France too, lol
  18. Yeah you are talking to a Mother. I know full well that hand washing doesn't stop everything!
  19. The fact that it is spreading, surely means people are still not following basic hygiene or advice?
  20. I'm pretty certain on clear days in EB my Dad said you could see Dungeness. Now that area has a completely different feel to it.
  21. Yep used to go to the harvester quite a few times in the summer, although it looks more built up since i lived there. Used to be a restaurant on an old boat too. Very relaxing place to sit and eat.
