  1. There is potential there but it is to our east over the near continent. My guess is that the Met Office believed this to be further west across the UK which is what the models were showing last night. As expected it's moved east. There does look to be a very slight chance of the far east of EA getting clipped by something a little thundery but it's a straw clutch: Tomorrow looks to see instability build once more with nearly 1000j/kg of CAPE (probably slightly overstated to be fair), LI's of around -3 and a nice swathe of converging winds across the central slice of England and Wales. There is some deep layer shear and low level shear too although this is being pushed off eastwards through the day.

Hmm, ok thanks, now tomorrow night, I'm at Sheffield Speedway, Machine Examining/Equipment Scrutineering, will it be a washout? Is their Thunderstorm potenrisk for Owlerton, Sheffield from say 5pm?
  2. Well, no queezy tummy today = no lightning today, confirmed.

Even though they scare me to death, I do crave them from time to time....

So to recap, mostly dreary, dank sort of day, occasional breaks when the sun burnt through the gank, Which caused the temp to peak out at 21.2c, but not as humid as yesterday.. then around 19:30 we had a ten minute downpour of warm, big spotted rain, but alas, no electrical activity in it whatsoever!

Leicesters Lightning Shield at full power yet again! Wonder if an import will sneak up to us in the early hours.......???

  3. I have had/have in the past, just about every lightning plotter/detector/storm tracking app on the planet! Usually more than one going at the same time....

What's everyone's opinions on these...? Accurate/Not as to a strike actually occurring, and strike location accuracy or not, and whole clusters of strikes being plotted well out of place sometimes....

Which ones the best do you think....?

  4. Hi all!

My interest in weather stems from the fact that I am absolutely terrified of thunderstorms, have been since I can remember, and I'm 50 now!!!

I have an inbuilt thunder alarm, I get very queezy when storms are heading my way, up to a good few hours before, most of the time.

Obviously lightning is dangerous, but it really really worries me when we get it.. if I can, I try to find a car to sit in, even when I'm say at home!

It also fascinates me as well, nearly to obsession level... Is this normal/common or rare do you think.....?
