  1. One of my favourite soap operas. One day I’ll visit the Radar Returns pub that’s features int he programme
  2. I’m thinking that the further south it is, then the earlier it is and the less dependant it will be on heating
  3. It’s not really an overnight thing, more a dawn event (if it happens) so I wouldn’t be too disheartened, considering there’s no forecast issues for anywhere else yet either My optimism is still moderate
  4. Paper or receipts on the dash … they will leap about or stick to the glass if there’s a close strike. I’ve seen it happen once before so now I always try and put some thin paper out when I’m chasing and it’s given me a sense of security when things get close. Not being in a thunderstorm is the other solution
  5. Looks like something heavy passing through early hours Tuesday - lots of rain at least
  6. ICON: GFS: ICON always seems very keen to electrify everything, so a middle-ground between these two is probably nearer the mark Either way it looks like the possibility of an overnight storm is dead-in-the-water - except for maybe Exeter through to Bournemouth, where initiation could possibly occur just before dawn. There’s also the sobering possibility that too much capping could scupper development, and I’m wondering if this is another case of early weak thunderstorms stopping play, similar to a couple of weeks ago
  7. Next week it looks like Ireland could get some much-needed storms (the remaining bits of Ireland that haven’t already been singed by lightning) it also looks like chances are improving for Saturday further south
  8. Seeing talk of storms in the north again on Saturday… and guess what? Nothing but REALLY HOT HUMID conditions in the south I like warm evenings and all that but where are the storms? I mean… WHERE ARE THE STORMS? once more: WHEREARETHESTORMS?!
  9. Friday evening looking good after a long hot day there’s something moving in from the west by about 1am triggering storms along the coast which move NE. GFS on a hair over this (barely anything more than rain) but ICON shows clusters of storms in the south west, then a bunch of the good stuff over the CS just as the sun’s coming up. Very likely to change but the key ingredients for a bang cake are there - hot day, southerly flow, potential trigger from the west…
  10. Some seriously nice photos on here from today. Thanks for keeping hope alive and sharing them Nothing exciting down our way at the moment so here’s some fire lightning from space (courtesy of AI):
  11. Despite the lack of warnings today I do think a rogue sharp shower can’t be ruled out - feels rather muggy and when the sun does make an appearance it has that post-frontal feel to the air If that makes sense
  12. Some nice big flashes and long rumbles. Think that’s it for this area but maybe a few more rogue ones left as it passes away to the NE been a long time since we got something like this feels like a proper little overnight storm for once
  13. Looks like more incoming for our area, no flashes yet though. Is this stuff all quite elevated?
  14. According to Ventusky the cold front should be over the CS at 4am
  15. I’ll be up for a few hours working on a website and watching Glasto 24hr on iPlayer … but most importantly keeping one 👁 on the radar
