Your storm could be see clearly on the South coast last night.
Just as it was getting dusky the lightning in the cloud tops darting about was quite a sight down here near Brighton.
Yeah, seen loads of pictures from other parts of the country. I'm gutted I didn't just try and capture the lightning from home to begin with. Ah well, more on the way today apparently so I'm hoping for another chance. It's not often a storm like that bubbles up right over MK. It was amazing how suddenly the lightning started to pick up pace.

Morning all, it was another awesome evening in MK yesterday. Cumulus towers bubbling up rapidly in every direction, one of the biggest anvils I've ever seen to the east (5th image) and then that absolute cracker of a storm a little later, which initially looked like a near miss! Did get some lightning shots this morning but barely any from this one sadly. Strikes every few seconds but had terrible luck with the timing of my camera's shutter and finding the right place to face it towards it. Still, the skies alone were spectacular.
Has there been confirmation of any tornado-related activity from yesterday evening yet? Me and a couple of other people spotted what looked like a weak funnel in the haze a few miles south of MK in the early part of the evening, in the first image. Could have been a skud but certainly did stand out despite the haze and was there for a couple of minutes before fizzling out.

Well, having had no storms yesterday and only a couple of brief showers in the late morning, I really hope we do at the very least get some good spells of rain this weekend. Things are starting to dry up here.

Probably the storm north of Peterborough.
Yes just looking at the radar. I think so too.

Beautiful storm going off north of MK. Not quite sure how far but it was producing in-cloud lightning at a very regular basis about 15 minutes ago.

Been quite underwhelming so far. Great convection most of the day and some very bubbly developments over the last few hours but starting to lose hope for storms today. Second half of the year and not a single good storm here.

That's a really nice little row of storms on the radar at the moment, although no more developments heading my way for now it seems. Just low level cumulus once again here but going by past experience, that could easily hide an approaching storm.

A cell literally just appeared out of the blue here in Milton Keynes. Saw the huge anvil in the distance and pretty much 15 minutes it was directly overhead, with a massive flash and boom of thunder upon arrival. The low level Cumulus gave it a stealthy approach. Another little rumble from the distance just now too.

Another bust for Bucks. Hopefully next week...

A funny day with cloud here today. A bit of Altocumulus passed over quickly around midday, then some little clouds of cumulus at tea time and now a big dark cloud and a lot of cirrus to the north east with a bit of virga. A sign of things to come?

Given the lack of luck so far this year, I'm not going to get my hopes up for today. Still not a single rumble of thunder here this year!

Any chance of anything happening in Bucks? Lots of convection but no storms so far...again!

Well this is boring. No storms overnight and just a little rain this afternoon. Any chance things will pick up?

And once again it seems like there's a stormproof bubble around Milton Keynes. The storm in the early hours was so close yet so far. Spent an hour watching heavy rain in the hopes of lightning but not a single strike. Couldn't be more disappointed. This has been the most boring year for storms I've ever seen so far. We've usually had one by now here. Think I might consider moving to Kent...

Was hoping for a little more convection bubbling up here by now. Don't want to get my hopes up really, although last night's storm did pretty much come out of nowhere.
