is the mk storm losing a little of its intensity ?
Still some rumbles in the distance but not as frequently as earlier it seems.

Did anyone in MK manage to get a view of that storm in all directions? I could only see bits and pieces of it. A lot of it was changing shape very, very fast. Think there may have been a funnel cloud in the distance but very brief, only for a few seconds.

A very mean-looking cell to my east at the moment. Just let out a big boom as I was typing the first sentence. There was a shelf cloud visible a few minutes ago but it has been obscured by the haze.

Had a great view of that storm that passed by Milton Keynes last night. Lots of lightning and nearly constant thunder for quite a while. The skies afterwards were spectacular too. Took these ones from Whaddon, a really nice little bit of countryside just around the corner from MK. Great place for watching storms, although I probably wouldn't be standing by those power lines if there was one right overheard!
Fingers crossed for more!

Quite surprised at just how good last night was! I was slap bang in the middle of it. Well, that's what it seemed like. Flashes to the east and west and loads directly above too. Had a very, very heavy rain shower at one point too.
This might be a silly question (or one that's already been answered) but were any of these storms supercells? I don't have a great deal of technical weather knowledge. Not as much as some of the other people in this thread!

Things are starting to look pretty interesting here. Altocumulus to the south and bubbling up quite quickly!

wow thats cool!
Thanks! Hoping that there will be some more action here later. Saw some amazing strikes to the west during the early hours yesterday but that was pretty much it. If I could have a storm like that monster that hit the north west of England last night, I would be very, very happy!

Some interesting cloud formations about this evening alto cumulus floccus and alto cumulus castellanus towers bubbling up signalling instability in the mid levels of atmosphere. See pic below. Interesting how precipitation with sporadic Lightning has broken out to my sw. Wasn't expecting to see anything tonight but looking promising.
Hey hey! Those are the ones I photographed too! Sky changed so quickly here tonight, didn't it?

Took these about an hour ago. The convection was to the south west. Something's cooking out there and pretty fast.

Just had a nice little one pass over MK. Heard 4 rumbles and saw a couple of flashes up high in the cloud. Wouldn't say no to a few more!

Took this a little earlier today. Clearest parhelic circle I've seen in a long time!
-
Grrr I'm so envious of you cloudsabove! Still, thanks for putting those up. I was keen to see what they looked like, seeing as I've had none here so far today. Great shots.

*sigh* Lots of promising convection around here at the moment but not a single flash or rumble. Hoping something might kick off later on this morning.

Things are looking somewhat unstable over MK this afternoon. Looked even more interesting earlier but sadly couldn't get any shots.

Had a lot of rain and hail this afternoon and this beautiful monster of an anvil in the distance a little earlier this evening!

Very very nice photos! Especially for the UK
Thanks! It's been a while since I last saw convection like that. Just after I posted those I had my first little thunderstorm of the year! Lots of hail and 5 deep grumbles.
That looks monstrous, Harry. I'd love to be there to take pictures of it but definitely not outdoors!

Looks like a squall's just about to hit here. Uh oh...
13.25 - It's been and gone now. A bit anti-climatic really. Looked very dark and menacing as it rapidly approached from the west, gave us a few minutes of very heavy rain but nothing else.

Oh now this is exciting. Just seen the severe convective weather and storm forecast and I'm in the green spot! I shall have the camera at the ready, just in case.

It's all not going off here in MK! Just another damp, dull autumnal morning with a little bit of rain. Fingers crossed for some action later. Still early yet anyway

Yes deffo! Them pics are from just outside Buckingham!
Sweet! Some very interesting structure in that one. Wouldn't have been surprised if it created a funnel!

Few pics from yesterday!
I think you and I were photographing the same cell! Great pics

Me too. Very interesting. Seems like it's just paused here.
