  1. r I''m hoping to stash mine like this later
  2. Got a warning tweet from South Wales Police - do not go out unless absolutely necessary. No worries on that front at all
  3. The snow keeps shifting from North/South so I think the wind must be kicking up. I've got around 1 degree here, and it's not going to get any warmer. Ice later is going to be difficult for all those who have to drive or get out today - bet the supermarkets will be busy!
  4. And it's just started snowing - bang on time too
  5. It really is, so whilst really pleased for everyone else, looking over to White Rock and seeing the snow left me feeling a bit miffed this morning. I hope we'll see some as forecast but it's standing rain here so the surfaces need to dry off a bit. Also the BBC and Met websites have our temp hovering at 1 whilst the BBC forecast still shows 7?
  6. Major worry will be the gales forecast for later on. Any snow we do get, currently raining in Pontypridd, will (hopefully) dry out the rain and any snow will drift. Should be some atrocious weather conditions later for RCT.
  7. Just had a text from the Met Office that the Amber warning has been extended.
  8. Just had a text from the Met Office that the Amber warning has been extended.
  9. Have you all missed the Met Office update? We're now under a Yellow warning for snow tomorrow
  10. Woke up to this an hour ago - sorry it's a bit grainy and can't change it to portrait - sorry
  11. I worry because of who might actually buy into it. Some might be overly concerned others dismissive, either way I'd support some form of investigation as to how they view their business model and the vulnerable they appear to be targeting.
  12. I suppose that price is what you base your freedom to be set at. If it's on supposition and conjecture they must be raking it in
  13. Thank you for that and I'll check it out Appreciate the link
  14. It's the 'stopped clock principle' - eventually they'll get it right but the damage done? I prefer science and verfied experts, not hysterical headlines. Any information on the weather I get here, and nowhere else I
  15. He must be desperate for the money. Click bait headlines are absurd and when proven wrong only give way to complacency. The problem is when the Express does provide an accurate report which will be ignored and put people at risk.
  16. I just remember the rain which didn't let up. And I think that's what struck me about the article - is the Environment agency being proactive, are councils in red areas being warned, are people aware? I've only experienced one incident of flooding which was hideous, but minor when compared to some news reports. I appreciate that forecasting in advance isn't heeded but I have concerns that information isn't cascaded, people affected aren't advised and consequently they're left to suffer whilst the rest of the world moves on.
  17. October is a summer month down here now, the Guardian is more level headed than the Express when it comes to weather articles lol Sorry Lassie - a few problems trying to reply back. Yes I think the G does research its articles as Monbiot did when he outed Powell. As for Mr Rao, his predictions are absurd, why there aren't more complaints I have no idea
  18. It was as Cardiff hosted a few Olympic sessions - trains couldn't run (there was a landslide), rain caused loads of problems for play etc. Though as you've said weather is becoming more unexpected and I don't believe that there's any interest from the government in responding to experts instead the blame game just gets passed around
  19. Hi Nick, Any observations on that article, I trust the G and thought it was worth posting and getting input from the community - big wave to Lassie
  20. It's Wales - we're used to the rain! Although it was harsh, 2012 was the standout for me as the summer was a washout. What I've noticed is that October is producing fine weather and instead of snow we're getting more Atlantic storms. Again, apologies to all who have more credibility than me.
  21. I think I rate far lower! However I appreciate the difficulty in forecasting, especially when it's for months ahead. Today I'm under a yellow warning for rain and it's been incessant as predicted but the response to events that are serious even when forewarned just show the lack of investment and cuts to the services that have to deal with the criticism but no solutions offered. My query is if the article has triggered any response and what, if any, that acknowledgement would be. The next time I see a politician in Hunter wellies trotting out 'lessons learned' with no intention of doing so I think I'll throw a fit.
  22. I'm nowhere near able to make sense of the science, but have looked up the experts mentioned for more information and their concerns seem valid. As a self-certified 'lurker' as I'm far too scared to post on a subject as I'm a rank amateur at best to profer any comment - many thanks for replying
