Hi,
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but would there be any chance of changing the way the charts are updated? I often find myself reverting back to the charts from wetterzentrale due to the fact that when I check the charts at http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=nwdc;sess=, they are being updated which means the previous run is removed.
When using the charts from wetterzentrale, the previous run is still visible until the complete set is added, i.e. it only updates the individual charts when they are available, hope that makes sense.
I'll look forward to you reply.
Thanks
Duncan

I've voted yes but I don't think the question quite relates to the article. I would not want the Panda to become extinct but agree that the Panda should not have the priority over other species just because it looks cuddly and is such an icon. More effort needs to be done to stop the deforestation.

Nice photo's, I've often flown along the north coast of Oman when visiting India via Dubai, every time I've flown over it looks really dry (usually as it's between Nov and Feb) but you can see deep gorges in the rock which seem to indicate there are at times very heavy rains. I always find it quite majestic flying over Oman as the mountains are huge and apart from along the coast there is nothing for miles and miles.

Hardly worth a mention but it is snowing ever so slightly here from the percipitation coming from the North West

Just returned from a walk up Tan Hill (294m ASL, one of the the highest points in Wiltshire), snowing there, well wet snow anyway. The lengths I go to to see snow

Thunderstorm over Amesbury, Wilts. Approx. 4pm, best activity around 4.30 - 5pm. Very dark, lightning, thunder torrential rain. Reports of local fire brigade pumping out High St in Durrington. Surface water flooding in the area on most roads.
The storm we had here in Amesbury/Durrington earlier was really something else, Durrington was certainly flooded, I was driving through what was effectively a large river, the water was running into people's houses . Lightning was everywhere too, I had it strike an electricity pylon in front of me with sparks everywhere. Certainly one of the worse storms I've ever experienced. On top of that there was really heavy hail.

Adore skylarks - one of my most memorable mornings ever was mid-morning at Stonehenge just over 5 years ago - because it was pretty cold the skylarks had delayed getting going until then, but when they did go for it they were swooping around among the punters and the stones singing their little heads off - magical! If you've never been sung at by skylarks at about 20 ft (as opposed to the normal 150 ft) you don't know what you've missed!
Me too, having always lived here near Stonehenge, I've always enjoyed them in the surrounding countryside, they're everywhere.

Yes, I saw some swallows just outside Calne on Saturday

Thanks for that Mr Data, I've never really given much thought on the subject but had no idea it was to do with the moon and the equinox, very interesting.

I'm not too fond of the move away from taxing fuel consumption and towards fixed-rate penalties like higher tax bands for pollutive vehicles, as it doesn't penalise excess consumption directly, rather penalising potential for excess consumption. A person who drives a clean car with excessive regularity may end up emitting more pollution than a person who drives a relatively pollutive car occasionally. It's obviously going to be correlated, but I favour the direct approach of penalising consumption.
Me neither, I do have a 2 litre car but as I car share, it only gets used 1 in every three weeks for a 16 mile return journey to work, yet I'll be penalised more than somebody driving a less polluting car every day, the math doesn't add up. If I was to buy a smaller car I wouldn't be able to get all 4 people in the car.

Unfortunately I had an ill looking Goldfinch by my pond last weekend, he went eventually but he was all fluffed up, I hope he wasn't suffering from the Trichomonas parasite

Brilliant Roger, very entertaining

My parents text me from Benidorm saying how they had torrential rain and thunder on Thursday with shops flooded

I remembered reading through this post the first time and thought then, what a good variety of birds some people get. Unfortunately I don't normally get anytyhing more than collared doves, blackbirds, the odd passing sparrow and wood pigeons but tonight I had a couple of grey wagtails visit my pond, it was good to see them feeding and drinking.

Very nice Potsy, would you like to come and do mine now..
Thanks but I think I've had enough for now, if anyone's interested, the complete gallery slideshow showing the progress is on my Live Space...

wow, what a transformation. It looks very nice, heck of a lot of work to get there but well worth it.
Yep, you're not wrong there.
Thanks for everyone's comments. It actually looks like today's going to be a good day to enjoy it. Have fun!

Good luck with your project Mark, it's really rewarding when it's complete, after reading this I thought I'd post the before and after pictures of my garden...

As I noticed Mark Bayley is working on his garden at the moment (good luck by the way), I thought I'd just share the before and after shots of my garden which I finally finished this year, thanks to the weather the plants are taking on well too (about the only good thing with the weather), I really didn't like the original railings as it separated the top of garden from the house so these were removed and in went my pond. I've got loads more in progress shots too...

The local BBC forecast yesterday evening was pretty much spot on for today. He mentioned the heaviest rain, as the computer data told him at 17.00 yesterday, would move up across the Eastern half of Wiltshire into Gloucestershire while those places West of Salisbury plain would have heavy rain but not so bad. That is 95% what has happened so far today ; I'm to the West of Salisbury Plain and we've had persistent rain with the odd heavier burst, while East of the Plain has had torrential rain with thunder which is now moving into Gloucestershire. The 5% I've left off above is that no thunder was mentioned.
Cool to read of day darkness in places ; it's an eerie, fascinating occurence.
Yes, although I haven't seen it, apparently Shrewton on Salisbury Plain was on the local TV news this morning showing floods (not sure how bad) but the river there is never usually flowing this time of year.

Does anyone have any rainfall totals for anywhere yet. Talk last night about upto 100mm / 4" possible. We must have had a couple of inches here already.
N-W's radar accumulation is showing (if I'm reading it right) figures between 30-40mm in the last 24 hours with some areas up to 56mm in a line roughly between the Brighton coast and Bristol but locally I'm sure there is more in places.

This is like a day in the middle of January with the central heating full on - hate it! Hopefully should clear my area this afternoon giving a bright dry evening in time for a walk to the village pub
I know you mean, it's really dark here in Salisbury and still raining, according to the radar map all this area has had some of the largest accumulations in the last 24 hours.
