Er, not quite in the way that storm did half an hour before dusk! I described the storm myself on here the same way. It always sounds OTT I know, when you are reading about something that has happened away from you...until it happens in your own 'back yard'.
The stories I am hearing from folk around here today back that report up..and more!
Tamara
Sure, I know what you're saying. It certainly looked like a severe storm judging by the lightning symbol on N-W radar image from that time.
-
Pretty accurate description that - some journalistic write-ups can be OTT but this storm truly did have an apocalyptical feel to it. I have a premises down in the town to go and have a look at today (if I dare!)
Tamara
Sound like a really good storm to have witnessed, mind you, the report there does say "Daylight turned to night in a matter of minutes", I think any cloud blocking the sun would do that at sunset.

Well done Wibs, I definitely like the different layers you have in that picture, it deservers to win.
-
You stupid fool. You should vote for yourself. I have....7 times.
lol. If I don't win, can I merge the total votes from both pictures ?
-
I'm so chuffed that 2 of mine got to the final vote , there were some really good submissions this month. Wibs got my vote (very nice and tranquil), though it was difficult as OON has captured a really good weather subject and I like the action that Essan has managed to capture and nice colour in Weathermaster's picture.

I'm going to go with the following 5...
Wibs 2
Shuggee 1
OON 3
Kelly f 1
weatherbitez 1

I really love the first two Potsy!
Do you mind me asking if you did any colour processing afterwards?
Thanks flagpole, I did make some tweaks to the Raw file on import to Photoshop, a circular polariser helps on the second shot, these were taken on my Canon EOS 400D

Possibly a Yellowhammer?

Snowing hard here now and settling, all I hear are sirens, a few people being caught out I guess.

Here are my first 2 for this month, a couple of local landmarks (not so much snow on these stones)
Salisbury Catherdral in last weekend's mist and frost.
Quite surprised nobody else was there to take a piccy of Stonehenge on Thursday morning, shame I was getting use to a new camera and it didn't come out as good as I wanted it to.
Oops, didn't resize first image and can't remove now

Well done Potsy
I gave you a run for your money there, and we were being chased hard by Mark, too. But a well deserved winner. I look forward to seeing it in the calendar next year.
That was really quite exciting and very close at times. I was chuffed enough last month making it as a finalist but to win a month is great, and when up against some great shots too. Have a Happy New Year all!
