  1. So - Anyone running a book on when we will see the first snowflake in the south east? Some of the experts must have an idea !
  2. heavy rain and lighning in Ashingdon, Essex now. Been rumbling for last 45 mins or so.
  3. Getting the odd sleet shower here, mix of rain sleet and snow depending on intensity - although its fairly light at best. There is hardly any wind, was expecting over the weekend a 'biting easterly' to chill me to the bone, any ideas where it ended up?
  4. Quite a rapid thaw in Ashingdon. The lack of snow last night didnt suprise me but the thaw this morning has. Suddenly feels like it is all over! And the Met hadn't forecast that either.
  5. Paul - Have to say I havent paid too much attention to the beeb forecasts for this spell. The models have been changing so much recently (where it will snow) that by the time they update the forecast, the next model run is out and things change again! Must be a nightmare, and I think I will take Monday with a pinch of salt for now. Ive noticed that the beeb can be quite literal with the snow graphics recently - reflecting the uncertainty, large areas are shown with snow. Mr Corbetts earlier forecast (around 2pm I think online) had Sundays snow much further north than SE Essex, and now its back again! Nightmare for the BBC & Met and roller coaster for us. I find the updates here far more accurate - although it helps with real time snow updates from everyone (mainly Kent!)
  6. So is SE Essex in line for the stuff on the continent forecast for tonight/tomorrow or is it all going North of us? Anyone got a good idea?
  7. Still bugger all in Ashingdon - can see lots of clouds towards estuary but thats it!
  8. Seems a slight shift westwards - wont take much more to hit us.
  9. Any chance of the wind pushing those showers east a little? thought we were due an east wind! Fed up watching all the snow go past Southend area. Maybe would catch some if I go to the end of the pier.
  10. I like the look of that stuff heading down the coast as Paul S has been highlighting. About time snow starved SE Essex got a top up for the couple of cm we have. Anyone want to hazzard a guess when it might arrive - and what odds it will fizzle out before it reaches us!
  11. Clear sky here also, which you would expect given you are 1 min down the road. Still very very light snow falling here - must be a rogue cloud around just to the nth of you! Trust me, it isnt much to get excited about but given we appear to have had a number of near misses in last few days, its nice to see some flakes, even if you need a microscope.
  12. Light snow in Ashingdon again. Can't believe these showers are so spread out people 1 or 2 miles down the road are missing them!
  13. Light snow/sleety grainy stuff in Ashingdon, Essex
  14. 5 or 6 cm on ground (Im couple miles nth of Southend), and its snowing.harder bits as can hear it on the conservatory!
  15. I was driving London bound on the A13 on Saturday morning around this time (benfleet area). Sky was like night with lighting but no thunder heard. We drove through a hailstorm at this time and I have to say the hail was the biggest I have ever seen. There was so much force that I thought the windscreen was going to smash. All traffic stopped - it was actuall quite scary. Only lasted a couple of mins, but very intense.
  16. Anyone as yet have a reasoned eta on first showers arrival? Need to pop out today but don't want to be caught out anywhere...
  17. Snowing heavier again here in Se Essex - it had eased off, but heavier for last 20 mins.
