I think us in South Yorkshire will just escape the worst of the high winds, hopefully the low will track over our region with the worst of the winds over Southern England.
If it tracks a little further North than it is showing at moment then things could get nasty here and if it tracks further South there's possibility that we could see something wintery.
Thank you for your reply.
Fingers crossed it does not track further north then, it can go south though, would much prefer the snow

Im so pleased my location is still in the yellow warning area, hopefully miss the worse of it.
Stay safe tomorrow everyone! I do not envy those of you in the south.

Serious question...how are south yorkshire looking for wind speeds at the moment?
Is it much more than what we are used to during winter?
I am genuinely starting to myself, i HATE strong wind speeds and considering we have just moved into a house with a ridiculously big silver birch in the back garden im even more scared!
I know things are still evolving so may be difficult to pin point but im seriously worried about this tree coming down
Attatched pic of the tree thats causing me to lose sleep right now

GFS creeps north *again* surprise surprise.
At this rate it will be an ordinary windy day on the Dorset coast. *Yawn*
If i had a say in it i would certainly stop the corrections north!
Dont want the stupidly strong winds especially not with a ridiculously huge silver birch tree in the garden that would cause huge damage if it falls
Fingers crossed it slips south!

Already a significant amount of power cuts across the region, not like Arwen but still pretty bad already. Only checked as got another email from Northern power grid, so they must be worried.
Just read the same email. This also doesn't bode well for round 2 on friday either.
Was just thinking they are all over the emails aren't they so must be expecting a massive amount of problems!

North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire its likely. South Yorkshire / East Yorkshire its more a possible.
Dudley has arrived here, strong winds and heavy rain, just in time for the School run
Thanks.
Yeah wind picked up again here

Is our region looking at seeing some snow from this on friday?
Im not excited about strong winds at all, but im hoping for some snow.
The extreme winds can stay south (hopefully everyone stays safe)

The problem is the large majority of the schools are not on half term…down here in the south it appears only Surrey and a few private schools are off. The school my sister works at in Huddersfield isn’t off until next week either…
Yeah schools here aren't off until next week either.

Just received an E-mail from Northern power grid, advising of potential power issues in the next few days due to the incoming storms, not had that before,
Yeah just read that email myself! Its a first for me too.
Im actually terrified of strong winds with the damage it can cause so not looking forward to these storms at all and that email hasn't helped

Snow here in hoyland.
Nothing over special, pretty flakes falling, nothing intense at the moment.
Conditions with the ice are terrible on footpaths and side roads though.

The storm looks to be further north than modelled!
What implications could this have on our region, if any?
