Model Output Discussion - Stormy Period Inbound...
Gazza H replied to Paul's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
just checked the tide times for thursdays impending doom and thankfully we are only on a quarter moon by then, meaning tides are down 1m from a full moon. The predicted <960mb would have caused a half meter rise in sea level, thankfully it looks like any storm surge will have less impact. Thats leith on the firth of forth tides only folks -
Calling it a day while it is relatively calm here. Baton down the hatches folks!

Mate just told me he is stuck on M90 southbound heading towards Forth road bridge. A Van seemingly managed to get on the bridge after closed signs had been put in place and has turned over. Seriously why would you even risk it!?
-
gusts from the last 6 hours peaked at 80 mph for the 10 minute average. single time stamp of 90+ witnessed as previous posts. Strongest I've seen down on the forth.

I can see it from my back garden, now this wind turbine is one of the biggest in the world so the you can imagine the flex on the tip of blade at the highest point which is 195 m. pretty scary!
-
Forth road bridge now closed to all traffic

wow, thunder, lightning, blizzards, every car alarm in the street going off. Power still on for now. not seen much like this before, bonkers Ok Im a half cut but its mighty wild! 95 mph gusts now down on the river!

Tide just turned in the forth and on its way back in. High tide due at 05:20, couple that with the winds forecast for that time and there could be an almighty swell, rough river. Latest Firth winds picking up again....

Long way to go but I see the pattern developing towards a sting jet? "Most damaging winds will be emanating from the evaporating tip of the hooked cloud head".(WIKI) Latest firth of forth wind speeds picking up somewhat... -
Firth of forth still looking reasonable calm, should be no problems on the bridges at the mo........

You guys are probably already familiar with this website but thought I would post a link Incase some are not. Good real time weather from the various weather stations http://www.mmweather.net/page/maps?regionid=7 I work at Braefootbay and use this to determine shipping berths, cancelations etc. Most of the weather stations are in exposed areas so will show the true extent of the upcoming storms. -
