White out on ash fell. Hazardous driving for a time.Back home it's stuck and still snowing. Roads are covered. No traffic coming through up to Orton scar thankfully else they would get stuck unless in 4x4.wind very strong but not as bad.

Right I'm getting out of the village now and heading nearer the kids schools and nursery.7 miles over the fell. As I think the schools will close early.

Same here. Didn't know snow could go back up. Is settling behind wall backs on grass here now.The flakes are massive. Is this the snow for later that's come early? Or is it meant to keep coming? Because it's coming thick and fast.

Well it's really snowing here now but not sticking yet. It's trying though. Wind is just blowing it everywhere. The wind is wild.

Oh yes just checked. Thank you all who aren't just watching puddles in their back kitchen. Ie: me.. the actual people who do know what they are looking for in the charts have helped me prove my hubby wrong. I did need the 4x4. Not yet but later. Fingers crossed.

When someone forecasts wind and rain coming from this direction again need to remember to put a towel in front of back kitchen door. As I have a lovely puddle their now. Yes you can all scoff but I really don't understand the charts ect so go off what I can see with my eyes. A puddle because the winds coming that way..

School run done. Nothing on ash fell,wild boar fell. Back up sunbiggen tarn. Heavy sideways snow. Poor visability. Starting to settle. Glad I didn't meet any other cars as wipers couldn't keep up. Home some snow,sleet wind. It's on its way folks.

Weird wind just stopped. No rain either.

Rain,rain,rain.wind and warm. Driven up over one fell no white stuff. Just muddy puddles. Did the horses at 5.30am just in case the weather was bad. I can't see how the snow could stick even if we had any it's blowing a Gale and the ground is saturated. Will let you know if I see even a random snowflake. Oh just had hail.. for 2 seconds. Winds picking up.

Thank you. Seems strange we are talking about freezing temperatures and snow and we've no heating on except downstairs coal fire and bedroom Windows are open.. it's the warmest it's been here all day.

It's definitely getting colder here. It's very interesting how the different weather sites keep changing/updating the areas. It's definitely a difficult one to forecast. Everyone should get some snow. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

Thanks we are in a village outside of appleby. It's a lovely place. With only a few people here in the winter. I wouldn't swap it just need to swap my car. I really look forward to everyone's views and opinions on this site regarding the weather. My husband thinks we are all sad following what the weather might or might not do..

Here I am at 187m wondering if that's lowland or not. Because it dosent matter if in our village we don't get any SNOW!! All roads out are hills if it does snow it's almost impossible to get out unless you have a 4x4. Which my husband takes to work and leaves me with the crap car and the job of getting to the horses at 6am,then becoming taxi service to 3 kids then struggling to get to work myself which is on another fell. We have one road that is slightly less treacherous/snowbound but going that way last week added 2hrs to my journey and I ended up back home again because yes you guessed it the schools were closing. So I read all the weather comments on here with excitement and dread. I try to understand the charts but it's beyond me.I much prefer to read between the lines and get everyone's take on what will happen from here.. and so far alot of people have been spot on. Keep up the good chat.

Yeah it's great up there used to live near there and my horses where stabled next to the pub. Enjoy it!! great for weather watching, plane spotting and just a breath of fresh air.. and sledging whilst dog walking.Hope you get loads of the white stuff.

Snowing here. . Big fat flakes and sticking fast. Gritters dont come to our village so it will be help yourself to the grit bin in the morning.. sorry to everyone else who wants snow.

"Hi "robbo88" good dog walks near you. Brabyns park marple bridge,longendale trail, hadfield.The canal at woodley leading to romiley then goes onto marple locks. Charlesworth has loads aswel go up past the Gray mare pub. Up the hill and park on left walk is on the right.Another one is The trail up to the monument at gee cross used to be a pub at the end but was closed Down. Shame That's good dry walk next to golf coarse. The reservoirs at hadfield. Or bit further Lyme park. Fantastic place. Could probably think of some more if I really tried. All within quick driving distance and good spots for dogs,snow and sledging.

Well the school run took 2 hrs round trip..!! Plenty of snow here. Melted and now heavy snow again. Are we expecting more ? I looked at bbc weather and it said Sun.?

Heavy snow and hail here for 10 mins at 6am. Covered the road. Made it slippy. Mucked my horses out set off for home again. Roads clear!! It just vanished. Don't mind too much as got the school run next over the fells.. but please snow over the weekend. My hubby is home with his 4x4.

Hmmm. We've got cold rain. Did get a snow shower yesterday for 20 mins then just stopped and the wind blew the the clouds over towards the Durham hills.
