    Anyone notice that the gusts last night were more like short puffs....lasting couple of seconds? Whereas Storm Katie back at Easter Time had long 8-10 second blasts??

    Yeah looking at the 12z i think the strongest gusts will be the Dungeness Area and the Dover Straits........Ferry Anyone?? Long way to go yet tho.....

    Hmm....I hate any warnings for wind....lost large roof tiles over the last few years and it'll be a rather stressful noisy night as chimney likes to roar too But!! The BBC and Met O for my area...BN2 Brighton have lowered expected gusts in latest forecast updated at 11:10 am.....after the Amber Warning was issued.......any thoughts on that?????

    I think some of those unofficial ones may be more correct. I live in the back edge of Brighton and a local swaith suffered a lot of large tree loss. And the winds were slamming in around 6-7am. So add the unofficial Shoreham and Lewes ones near me and you may have a clearer picture of local gusts. Now just got to wait for council to put up scaffolding and fix my roof ridge tiles before my loft gets soaked!

    Massive gust at approx 610am. 2 large roof tiles gone. Must have been 80mph+

    Ok. But surely there'd be some influence?? Im like you....dont like it when wind gets up. Tiles start chattering and dont need them coming off!

    Hmmm....not an expert.....but surely the Channel is cooler than the Atlantic this time of year so we may not see much more deepening?

    Its not been that bad today....been a bit on and off with the gusts. Id say St Jude and the whole of Winter 2014 was worse than today in Brighton. And I lived thru 1987 and the Burns Days Storms.....

    Well.....I lost a number of large roof tiles in the St Jude storm......so me and my fence arent hoping for a repeat

    Im sure we had graupel in Brighton last night on top of the hoare frost?? Was cloudy when I opened curtains but everything was a slightly fluffy white...... :cc_confused:
