Cooling already (although only slightly) on the peruvian coast. So we could be looking at modoki then? I agree that would be more interesting, especially for a uk winter I believe (and hope!)

Remember reading that it was likely to earlier in the year. Am I right in thinking if it does that gives us a good shot at a nice cold snowy 2nd half of winter?

Hi all. Could someone please point me in the right direction for learning more about el nino and associated uk winter weather. For months now I've been reading every scrap of information I can find, but so many articles contradict each other. And also, is it reasonable to presume we will go straight from el nino to la nina next spring? Sorry if questions are somewhat basic, but I didn't know where else to ask. Thank you

Eagerly anticipating 4th August (and folliwing) updates. Will be fascinating to see how our winter pans out this time round.

Repeat of another famous legendary weather event this autumn would be good- "the infamous hurricane!"(Obviously I don't want anyone hurt/suffering severe damage) but there's something very special about about sitting in the warmth of your bed listening to the wind howl! Can't wait for the cosy dark nights to return.

hope not. I'm at the top!! Seriously. I'm still amazed. Looked down and the pavement dried almost as quick as the rain stopped. Hope someone else local witnessed it, or I'll start to wonder if the heat really has got to me!

Wow. Sitting on balcony and thought someone had turned a hosepipe on. 30 seconds of the heaviest raindrops I've ever seen. Then..... erm... nothing else. Even had to double check it was falling from the sky and not a leak in the roof!!!

CFSV2 is showing for el nino modoki later in year; it's also showing much higher sst anomalies (of 3c above average) compared to jamstec and ECMWF going with 2c. Wouldnt that put it on par with 97/98 or even bigger?

I read a while back that we were possibly looking at el nino modoki but can't find anything more about that now. From my limited understanding that changes world weather in yet more ways. Do you know where I can find any further info please? Thank you

Beautiful blue sky breaking through here now . so anyone? Do I risk taking my little to barleylands(farm type thing!) Looked at rain radar but to be honest the way I understand it I'm safer looking out of the windows! Cheers

2 hours on my balcony waiting for the fun (did see a "blink and you'll miss it" brief lightening affair!) Now it's time to wake up the household looks like it's all about to start! Typical!
