OK, so if you are being specific in your requirements then go for Ecowitt products.

If you want a Display start with a HP2551C and add some WH31 temp/humidity sensors. You can have up to 8.

If not bothered by a display and happy with using an App or web pages then buy a GW1000 and same sensors as they are all interoperable. You can add Soil Moisture sensors (upto 8). Shortly there will leaf wetness sensors and Soil temperature sensors available too. There are many other sensors as well such as Lightning and air quality etc

If you do want to measure rain then you can add that as with Wind anemometer options at any time.

The prices are very reasonable and Ecowitt are a fantastic company to deal with.

Hello Snipper. How kind of you to ask! I did indeed have a lovely day preparing my caravan for the first outing of the season in a couple of weeks time; off to the Norfolk Broads. Then enjoyed a couple of my neighbour's homemade beers in my garden at teatime. He's turned his house into a micro-brewery - well that's what his wife accuses him of doing, lol.
I'll pass on your thought to Brian. If you lean out of your window you'll be able to hear his response.

And on to the weather...... looking wet and windy from late afternoon thru to late evening today. Rain arriving by teatime in the west of the Region and reaching all areas by around 18.00, with Arpege suggesting 10-20mm for the west dropping to 5-10mm for the east up until 08.00 Tuesday morning.

The strongest winds will be this evening from around 20.00 to 23.00 with gusts up to 80km/h (50mp/h).

Micro brewery?  If I visited it would be a real home from home. Make some really good beer here. A thoughtful son gave me some very nice equipment. Fortunately I had converted my detached garage into a garden room with worktop, sink and hot and cold water. It is my man den so no complaints from the management.

If your mate wants another unhealthy but nice additional hobby how about curing and smoking bacon and fish? Attach photo of a cold smoker I made.

Happy Birthday! I hope you've got a table with a nice big umbrella and still manage to enjoy the afternoon. Folkestone definitely in the firing line for a shower or three. But a tiny bit of good news....... at least the temperature should be a little higher than recently.

So you are 84 like your avita? Time for an update?

I really hope you have lovely day whatever. Very kind regards.

Anyone interested growing stuff and want seeds at a reasonable price use this firm. Used them for the last few years. Simple packaging. Delivery so far has been prompt and not expensive.  You will need to check out their website for recommended growing instruction. Not shown on the simple packaging.

  5. This very dry weather with a chilly feel makes it very difficult to decide when to sow or plant tender stuff outside. Having a cloche or some other cover might make all the difference.

My greenhouse is crammed. So potting on stuff into slightly larger pots helps to keep them looking good before hopefully planting out. Trouble is potting on causes all sorts of stress. Plenty of light is also needed but not so much that it scorches everything. I have painted the outside of my greenhouse on the south side with some shading really helps.

The most annoying thing is all those self sown seeds  (like tomatoes), will be brilliant. Big problem is we all want stuff to be early. Be more relaxed and most things catch up. Being patient seems to be the watch word of life nowadays.

  6. My Oregon home weather station has died after many years of questionable accuracy. It had  the advantage for me of a couple of remote sensors with a good range so I could see the temperature and humidity in my greenhouse and outside that is about 50m from my bedside table.

Looking for a reasonably accurate replacement.  No particular budget but start from the premise that I don’t want any expense. Not looking for an all singing and dancing unit that is difficult to place the outdoor equipment and I would not keep up with.  Rainfall collection possibly (but I do have an Oregon one). Wind speed possibly but God gave us trees to see if it windy.

Something that is easy to view and relatively accurate but not looking to download data necessarily.  The principal requirement are remote sensors of reasonably accurate. As I have numerous thermometers and humidity meters, non of which read the same when in the same location, accuracy will be taken with a degree of scepticism.

Any suggestions to consider please? I have an open mind to some degree.

    Thanks.

seems this dry weather is causing lots of activity, builder next door playing with laying paving slabs, snipper going crazy gardening, my hubby busy making plant stand and me and trusty henry getting the hoovering done. Shame temps are down or we could b out under sunshades lazing on lounges saying its to hot to move.

Snipper is always very reserved (unless pushed). Think Mrs Snipper has forgotten when I went crazy. But when I did, and do now occasionally it it is more than nice apparently. Hopefully she isn’t lying.!

Lunch was bacon sandwiches. My home cured and smoked bacon. So easy.

Now supping one of my home brews. Nice and hoppy and quite strong. Trouble is with a nice evening like now it is just nice to walk round my weedy patch checking what needs sorting. Beer in one hand and secateurs in the other. Then there might be chatting to neighbours over the wall.

Pity  some cannot enjoy a bit of private garden.

Yep the easterly wind is back. Bet when its needed in the summer to cool things down, it disappears only to return in autumn!

Wind not too bad here although getting a little bit stronger but not much. If it get too strong and cold I’ll go and hide in the greenhouse. Lots of jobs on the go. Clearing last of broccoli prior to rotavating  one of my vegetable patches.  Dug one of my compost bins out and spread it about so I can refill with lawn rakeings and chopped up broccoli stalks. Amazing how much green stuff you can loose into compost bins.

Should be exhausted by lunch time.

nice day here out this morning for brunch and no cold wind to make outside sitting uncomfortable. Spent this afternoon making fruit buns hope they are ok as i added too much milk to dough mix, silly me, but added extra flour and they are proving at the moment and rising so  they will be ok. Must have had a senior moment

Like making rolls and buns. Do you happen to have a bread maker? If yes it is all relatively easy. Wack the ingredients in and leave whilst the bread maker makes the dough. Couple of hours or so later without any input. Pour the dough out onto a surface and knock it back a bit.  Cut into appropriate sizes. I tend to make rolls of about 80gm each. There is a technique for forming the rolls. Check out YouTube. But possibly you might have that sorted already.

Made cheese and dried tomato rolls yesterday. Yummy. I did sort of cheat and used a Wrights bread mix. About £1 but gives you great rolls or bread. Customer services is good if it goes boobies up..

The weeds appear to be doing better than the plants I actually want to grow. I wish I had Hammersmith and Fulham Council's remedies for the former: a flame thrower and a steamer.

Got a paraffin flame gun. Sounds like a V1 rocket. So good at zapping those pesky weeds. Up to 2000°c. To be honest just fun using it provided you don’t zap anything important. Like your prized plants or shed.
