Yes I know there are various sources. Google maps, Waze, Highways Agency.
It is just the BBC site is more convenient for accessing the information when travelling across the country from one area to another. Google maps generally only show speed of traffic not the cause of the delay. The BBC site updates regularly, whereas others don't.

This useful service to close.
Amongs other things BBC would rather spend money on sending expensive reporters round the world to tell us nothing much.
Check out details and sign petition. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/internet/entries/68182816-070d-4600-9835-e83a4fadc13d

Think the younger ones in here could not cope with a really cold winter.
Most are too soft. Central heating, double glazing, insulation and a soft life.
Yes a nice dump of snow is great but when it goes on for weeks and months not so much fun.
Might have to cut down on the takeaways

Volunteering for National Trust today gardening. Blooming cold, although helped by a nice big bonfire. To heck with air quality. It is only once or twice a year.

Although watching snow flakes flutter down by the light of a lamp post is the ideal to use a laser is a good way to gauge what is coming down and its intensity at night . Damn all here at the moment
Just make sure you don't shoot down any planes.

Difficult not to be amused by the Models thread

Just glad I am not paying for weather forecasts, particularly for longer range. Probably get as good results by throwing darts with a blindfold on.

The so called storm will have little effect on anyone south of a line from North Wales to Hull in my opinion.
So we are now suppose to have storm alerts by postcode?

Every climate change denier should visit St Kilda to see how warming oceans are wreaking havoc on kittiwakes

Any time we get rid of herring gulls the sooner the better. Nest everywhere and crap on anything. Can you eradicate these thieving so and so's? No.

Anyone know if they get it right with their scatter gun reporting?

Dare I mention the possibility of the Atlantic conveyoy shutting down or is that a step too far?
Dons chain mail and armoured helmet!
Don't know why some are so snooty at the comment.

Christmas week forecast
Will it be cold, will it snow, will it be mild, will it rain, will it be dry.
Will there be floods, will there be blizzards,so many questions
That know one has answers too,not even the models it would seem..
Best just open your curtains each morning and see what the weather
Is doing

To be honest I agree. Watch the MAD thread and you think they would forgive their wife whatever she/he did. Ok I have to be PC here.

Slightly lost the plot as far as the next week is concerned. So is there reasonable chance of some cold? Not looking for 20ft snow but something cold. Like a bit if frost. Are we looking forward to everything going to be kicking off next week. Or is that the following week? Week after some time?
-
I love reading the models thread. It's the sadist in me. Sorry. Can't help myself.
-
Not been able to view postings. Is everything still next week?

My neighbours are probably missing seeing me wandering around my garden in my dressing gown with a cup of tea first thing in the morning. Hate this grotty weather. Fortunately a nice autumn.
-
Is there a link somewhere to give me more information on the models? I appreciate predicting the weather is exceedingly complex but what keeps being posted here on the whole appears to be erroneous. The goal posts I assume are continually being moved.
How good are they at predicting mild instead of cold? Seems that a lot of people posting on here (not all) are desperately trying to see something that might not be there.

I worked in Southwold for a couple of summers around 5 years ago whilst I was at university. Southwold is fairly small with a fair amount of parking just outside the town in for which the walk into the town centre and the pub in question isn't very far. It probably isn't necessary to be honest
