2017 Storm Chase - 3 places remaining
James 'Jamie C' Croucher replied to Paul's topic in Storm Chase USA
Righty ho.... so all my flights are paid for!! I'm heading to Los Angeles on 28th may for a few days to catch up with some friends and fellow music makers, I'll be in Dallas the day before tour 3 starts so if any other tour 3 people are there and fancy a beer or two, let me know :-), got a bargain on flights to Los Angeles, £377 return (seat was £1 rest was taxes).... ton British airways of all airlines... must say I was lucky and browsing at the right time as they rocketed to 800 for the same flights 2 days later.... win win!! The internal delta flights were not that badly priced either, so I'm going to be jet lag free and bushy tailed :-) See you all there :-), -
I am absolutely gutted about today!! I watched it come in on the radar and at work, the next town over was where it really started to pick up, now if I had had my normal Saturday off (this is the ONE Saturday I covered for someone) I would of been out chasing it and would of stayed with it all day!! I just cannot believe the one day I do somebody a favour and we get the best storm of the year, possibly for years comes in. Fair play to all that got to play in it, I spent my working hours looking at the radar weeping!! Is that it now? Or will there be more?? South westwise!! jamie

Hi all!! ive just paid my deposit for tour 3 next year and I cannot wait :-). (A very good way to make time slow down ;-) ). Wanted to do this since I can remember, always loved thunder and lightning and tornadoes. That coupled with my long nagging urge to get a decent lightning shot, how could I refuse to hold of any longer!! (The frustration of being in the no storms club in Weymouth I guess :-) :-) ). well just wanted to check in and say hi and I look forward to meeting you all next year whoever is booking to go on tour 3! (I did want tour 2 but I got there late!) -

Storm risk - Monday 9th May onwards
James 'Jamie C' Croucher replied to Harry's topic in Storms & Severe Weather
Gutted I live at the wrong end of the south coast... Always the way -
the bordeux storm looks pretty intense and if it keeps the momentum up then surely that may hit the south/south west head on? looking at the pressure chart on the met office (dunno if im reading it right) puts the line on the pressure battle right over the south uk from devon to isle of wight way at approx 1am.... and its angled more heading further north west as it heads up.... although im happy to be corrected, i hate trying to understand charts, i just like the lightning (on the rare occasions that we get it).... and that divergence line i said about also ties into the storm risk map on the netweather site at around the same time. i hope to get something, dying to get some decent shots on my eos 70d......

Good evening all! Im hopefully going to be putting my deposit down and doing the pay monthly for the tour next year, just wondered if i could grab some pointers as to the best tour to go on. I know its unpredicatble but is there any tour over the other thats more likely to give more severe storms? Also could you shed any rough prices on the flights prices to dallas..... (based on what they were this year, cheapest as possible and as direct as possible). Really looking forward to fulfilling one of my lifes bucket lists with this :-) Thanks in advance James

I really do hope so!! Gonna get somewhere out bournemouth way I think, keeping an eye on developments during the day... Best go charge the camera up just in case!! I was a mess last night, excited for people up north getting their light show but absolutely dying inside as I wasn't there to view it!!

No no no no!! I'm one officially unhappy chappy, devastated to be missing the super cell oop north!! Why can that never happen down here!! Nothing in Weymouth/Dorchester not even a sniff at a rumble!! Fair play you lucky lot up north getting to witness Mother Nature at her finest!! How I envy you!! I just go chasing in America next year, if I don't see a tornado at least I'll get to see some lightning
