Is this stuff around the Chilterns a lot further east than was expected? I am in West Oxfordshire & the sun is still out, its hot & muggy and I am hoping that growing cluster is coming my way.....

Thought it was all over down in Oxfordshire/Berkshire but rain appearing again out of nothing. Just one rumble so far though

Pretty epic storm here in Witney now - a lot of CGs
Looks like all IC to me. Plenty of lightning not picked up by detectors, but no real shotgun thunder.

Spent last night on the west side of the IoW around Christchurch, expecting a good show & got absolutely nothing. Back home tonight where we could be on the edge of the action, but it should be another good evening watching the radar

Absolute brick lemon all here, nothing even remotely interesting
Get used to it if you are in Oxfordshire, everything splits and dies off as it gets nearer.

Incredible that the GFS shows temperatures falling from 38C at midnight Wednesday to 20c three hours later! Worth keeping those windows open..

Does the guy who lived in/near Bedford who could see the south coast still visit the forums?
No, I think his hot air balloon finally deflated

Currently in Crete, was a lovely weekend, but now 18C, cloudy, wet and not at all what I was expecting. Doesnt look like it will change before I fly home at the weekend either ☹

I would be much happier next week with low to mid 20s as long as it stays dry most days. The charts seem to show this is a possibility. No one can really enjoy this 30C, high humidity in the UK surely?

What are people planning on chasing tomorrow? Nothing to 'chase' unless you fancy a trip to South Eastern Kent!
Just a rain mass for the remainder of SE and CS England

The excitement in this thread usually eclipses the actual event!
There will be some excited radar watching from around 6pm onwards. I am expecting some precipitation but little in the way of lightning this far West.

Just glanced at this forum for first time in months, just 10 seconds before a clap of thunder in Oxfordshire!

Anyone know the steering flow?
Appears to be directly West, so that big Reading storm is going South of us

Gave up looking at the radar an hour ago due to the massive gap of nothing to my east and the fact I have barely seen the sun all day with just 22C when I drove home. Just checked it now and there has been a sudden build up in the usual Milton Keynes area, so looking forward to watching it head north of me!

Walked into town and back under that big storm.
Very underwhelming with some reasonable IC lightning but the roads are barely wet!

Todays initiation is earlier, further South & further East than yesterday. Could be an interesting afternoon for the South Midlands and beyond!

I thought it was the COS - Cone of Silence?

Those 2 systems in N France look like they might be about to combine into one huge thing!

The BBC were talking about a trapped low in the Bay of Biscay around next tues/weds last night?
Looks like it could be the usual excitement for southerners before it all kicks off around Northampton and moves northwards....

Some PPN off the coast of Kent and northern France, even some lightning detected in them too.
Can you see it?

That stretch from Milton Keynes to Kings Lynn seems to get a lot of activity when storms move across in a NW direction
