My mum just may have thought like that, but in 1976 I certainly didn't I was too busy putting babies in the paddling pool, filled with water from the kitchen tap lol

If we were brought up in a country with these conditions we would be used to them, and not complaining about them., But we weren't so we do LOL

Top temp I suppose depends on if you catch a thunderstorm or two - or none. Netweather forecast thinks it will be a high of 26C because it will be cloudy/stormy most of the day, neither BBC nor MetO agree with that option.

My local weather station in Willesborough says it's 32C now - I was pottering in the garden, but getting too hot for me now

MetO forecast was 50% chance of rain earlier, but it missed us and rained on Canterbury, instead, shown on the weather radar animation. 'Snot fair grumble grump I really do like hot and sunny, but farmers could do with some rain or veg prices will be sky high this winter.:(

Local weather station recording 29C, clouds are beginning to join up now, so it may cool down a bit.

I agree - prefer some sunshine, but if it's got to be cloudy then we need some bladdy rain to clear the air FGS. Grey and humid is no good for man or beast (or the allotment!)

It has felt quite a bit cooler here today, with thin cloud hiding the sun. Right now there are some dark clouds rolling over us, so hoping for a shower - at least! If not I'll be watering the allotment again this evening

Very hot today no breeze to take the edge off the heat. Had a few raindrops but mostly evaporated before it hit the ground. Still watering lots on the allotment!

The skies darkened, I heard thunder then a few drops of rain..... Woohoo! I thought my rain dance had worked Nope, it stopped then, it wasn't even enough to dampen the soil - Boohoo! Can still hear rumbling, in the distance, but no sign of any rain

It's grey and breezy with that very fine rain that doesn't even seem to wet the soil - it just annoys the cat. It's about time this cloud either gave us some proper rain (which the garden needs) or beggared off altogether.....

Cloudy but warm this morning on the allotment, turned cooler by lunchtime, now the sky has gone a bit darker and getting light drizzle. If it's going to rain can it please get on with it - I'm fed up with watering the allotment

Morning bleugh cleared at about 11 and now it's a beautiful warm sunny day, would be hot if it wasn't for the NE breeze. Baking if you can find a sheltered spot, like me - I'm having lunch in the greenhouse Had to water the newly planted stuff on the allotment again, I'm sure my arms are getting longer carrying watering cans (no hoses allowed here)

It's been a lovely, warm and sunny day since first thing. Spent 4 hours on the allotment and shoulders are red, luckily not sore Everything is growing like crazy, sadly that means I spend a lot of my time cutting the grass paths

Heavy rain, thunder and lightning here again - I know I said at the weekend that the garden could do with a drop of rain, but didn't really expect as much as this

It's been persisting it down in waves all morning, with 3 bouts of thunder/lightning in the mix. I got drenched getting the milk and paper first thing. It's still 17C so not really cold with it!

A chilly 7C last night, luckily I'd seen the forecast and moved lots of pots back inside the greenhouse - again! Only 12C now and grey, with a brisk NE breeze and with spits n spots of rain, so it doesn't feel very nice out there, even the cat agrees that it is an indoors day No playing on the allotment today then, I'm trying to resist putting the heating back on again
