UK Tanning Season Begins Now!
interested & confused replied to Backtrack's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Tanning might not be 'exactly good for you' but the Vit D your skin makes in the sun, sure improves your mood! It's been lovely pottering in the greenhouse today, even had lunch in there today -
Three Favourite UK places
interested & confused replied to claret047's topic in Weather Around The World
It's very hard to choose just 3! St Ives in Cornwall, although all of Cornwall is stunning. The High Weald and the South Downs. I love the Weald & Downland Open Air Mueum, with it's saved and reconstructed village houses http://www.wealddown.co.uk/explore/buildings/ The Norfolk Broads from a boat -

Met office Yellow Warning of Rain says " later this morning and during Saturday afternoon, before easing from the southwest into the evening. Some torrential downpours are possible. Please be aware of the risk of surface water flooding, including local disruption to transport and outdoor activities." They were 'avin a larf' storm radar shows none anywhere near Kent. I'm still watering the allotment Grrr!

Arctic Sea Ice Discussion 2016: Melt Season
interested & confused replied to BornFromTheVoid's topic in Climate Change
Weird, I read somewhere in the last few days that the temperature in the Arctic was back down to freezing already *confused* How cold does it have to be to stop losing ice? -
It will all be your fault now - whatever happens lol

How many years Have you Known About Ley Lines?
interested & confused replied to Snowyowl9's topic in Space, Science & nature
Let us say they built a monument in what felt the right place (maybe a henge) they might find another place nearby that also felt right. They 'd then make a connection between the 2 places. Next thing is that the new religion, Christianity, liked to take over these sites, so built churches near to them, everything usually connected by footpaths....so' Ley' lines. Now what was it about the place that made it feel 'right' in the first place? - there must have been a feeling at that time, that here was exactly the right place to build a monument. The feeling for the place came first IMO - but what caused it, I've no idea -
How many years Have you Known About Ley Lines?
interested & confused replied to Snowyowl9's topic in Space, Science & nature
Ley lines are like devining/dowsing for water, some people do seem to get results with that, although not proved scientifically. The ancient sacred sites on ley lines were put there for a reason lost to modern man. I tend to be sceptical, but never rule things out completely - we simply don't know everything the human brain is capable of. Most people have feelings about places, some places feel comfortable, others can feel decidedly uncomfortable and you want to go somewhere else. I always act on these feelings, because I think they are often warnings from our unconscious thought processes. I've always been very aware of them when viewing houses, if they didn't feel right, even if the house looked perfect on paper - then I wouldn't buy. -
A mostly cloudy day here with showers on and off, just the odd glimpse of brightness - hardly what you'd call a perfect summer's day. Seems to be a typical one, nowadays, though

I usually put on half a stone over winter through over eating carbs, and then lose it over summer, without trying as my diet improves with some sun. I haven't lost much of it this year, even the doc noticed at my last check-up. Oh dear! I'd better try to behave myself

You don't believe me? I don't like the look of it but the details were taken from the netweather Ashford forecast just before I typed the post. Disagree with netweather if you want
