  1. Just shy of 30c here today. Now clouded over after some signs of instability. Very humid- going to be a sticky night
  2. Isn't it the centre of the low? The rest hasn't been picked up by our radar yet?
  3. The old ways are always the best when it comes to the chase!
  4. The negativity on this forum is unreal! Is there not another thread for weather moans? The clue is in the word forecast. Meteorology isn't an exact science. Forecasters can only make the best of the data in front of them plus their knowledge of what similar set ups have led to. I live in an area that's a healthy mix of the rural and cimmuter land. Knowing heavy rain is incoming is vital for farmers particularly during the harvest. They rely on forecasts to plan their week, etc. The vast majority of the time the met( and many amateurs too) do get it right. IMBY there's a lot of surface water on the roads, so I'll be leaving earlier than usual to account for poor driving. That decision was also made based on a warning for heavy rain. There are no guarantees for thunderstorms. If there was, somebody would be making a fortune. Now I'm off to get my wellies and raincoat which I left by the back door. Have a good day and cheer up lads!

  11. As for rain..I left home Friday a.m. with an empty bucket. Got half way up the M1 before remembering I meant to put it away. Got home this morning and.....
  12. Thst Reading cell isn't electric, but it's beautiful. Funnily, I laughed when I saw metO forecast for rain at 9pm- but looks like they're spot on
  13. Nice surprise to wake up to. Lovely drop of rain and a couple of strikes with booming thunder
  14. Ooh you're not far from me. Darkening skies and thunder here. Bear in mind the A34 is shut this afternoon if you're heading for the ridgeway, which could be a good spot. Good luck!
  15. They're further east than yesterday. You might be better headed to Bucks
