Frosty hollows

The unlikely bit makes me laugh. Why issue a weather warning for a flake of snow? Looking ahead I'd say ice will be the problem in my area tomorrow night ( but snow would be nice!)

Most likely scenario this far inland as it looks like temps are going to plummet overnight after the 'precipitation'

The met office matrix thingy says it's unlikely the rain will turn to snow. I just think the possibility of a dusting of snow doesn't really warrant a warning. I think some of the forecasters may have learned their ramping up skills on the MAD thread!

Little squall line developing over the Chilterns. Temp dropped from 9.8 to 7.6C

Everyone talks about the M4 being a dividing line, but I live north of the M4 and south of the M40 and in my experience it's always the M40 marks the border. The stokenchurch cutting through the Chilterns in particular. You can guarantee storms will not come south of the corridor, nor snow. It's like there's a forcefield on the Bucks/Oxon border. Of course, if I'm proved wrong and I do get some snow I shall spam the thread with pictures!

I used to take everything in the MAD thread with a pinch of salt..runs ten days out? Seriously? The last time I posted I was subjected to a load of abuse from 'more experienced than you are' types. I think I was eventually proved right in any case. Real shame there's a minority of arrogant self obsessed posters because some of the stuff is really informative and there are people like knocker who are super knowledgable, but don't make you feel like an idiot because you suggest a run could pan out another way. But, even I'm feeling next weekend MIGHT be on for some snow. Hope I haven't jinxed it by saying that!

Overnight low of -5.5 C . day time high of 4.2C. No sign of mild weather yet. Any chance that this drizzle will turn to snow when it comes across the colder air?

Beautiful sunny day here now. Air temp hovering around freezimg but feeling quite pleasant unlike yesterday which, though warmer, had a bitter breeze. I even managed to negotiate the icy bridge( it's in shade all day so is always a nasty spot!). Wearing more layers than an arctic explorer though!

-7.8 now. Bored of being cold! Sorry those of you who want some frost, but I have to walk a km on an untreated country lane over an awful bridge to get to work. Looking forward to not being afraid of falling a over t!

Another frosty morning. Untreated roads diabolical! Very pretty looking though. Shaded areas haven't defrosted for days so now looking very pretty. Looking like it's snowed (closest we'll get) on some lawns/shaded spots

Another moderate frost here. Don't think the ground has thawed out since the 27th. Very festive looking though. Overnight lows last four nights between -3.3 c and -5.8 c with frost remaining in sheltered spots during the day.

Lerwick getting a good battering. Sustained winds of 60+mph, gusts over 80mph! Pretty scary stuff even for hardy islanders used to a storm or two

Morning all. Cloudy, damp, light winds at the moment but I'm a lot further east than anyone else here! Most notable thing this morning is that the temperature rose from1.5 at 6am to 8.5 at 7!
