  1. Big flakes of snow here in Cosham at the moment. Melting immediately upon impact though.
  2. I think the GFS deserves some recognition for picking up on the snow event early and running with it. I lost count of the amount of posts in the MAD thread either dismissing it or saying wait for the ECM.
  3. I think this beats the 2010 snow event based on the fact that it was late in the season and the unusual synoptics that caused it.
  4. Snowing again in Gosport. Temps have dropped back below freezing within the last hour. Currently -0.4C but drops to -0.5C occasionally. Seems like there's a battle going on between warm and cold air. There's a lot of black ice in our road yet the neighbours have been brave enough to drive on it. I went to get the paper earlier and as I tried to turn the corner slid sideways towards the drop kerb. It was like being stood on a travelator.
  5. Can anyone else remember the last time the south coast has been covered by weather warnings for a week?
  6. I agree it's been nice to read everyone's posts. It's been very positive in here as for once we haven't been stuck on the sidelines whilst the other regions bang on about how much snow they've had.
  7. I must admit I had to bite my tongue earlier in the week as I as did many on here suspected something was going to happen but couldn't say for certain because of the lack of agreement between the models. I'm just glad we got snow as all too often we've seen the GFS forecast snow only for it to downgrade it to rain.
  8. 53 members on here vs only 20 in the MAD thread. Been very quiet over there. Seems no one wants to talk about the models whilst the radar is showing weather porn.
  9. It's funny that 24 hours ago in a group Facebook chat a mate was adamant that it wouldn't snow in Portsmouth after I posted a screenshot of the netweather radar and said it's going to snow. He was reminded by another mate that I was the weather buff of the group so was probably going to be right and thanks to all the resources and experts on here I was right.
  10. Some shots of the snow in Gosport. The footprints are from where I have been out measuring the snow depth for the weather station.
  11. It's funny how easy it is to forget that it's spring with all this wintry ppn going on.
  12. The next best thing to the met office: https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar
  13. Freezing rain here in Gosport. Really strange hearing the crackling after the serenity of the snow during the day. Temp: -0.6C rising +0.7C /hr. DP -2.0. WC: -4C to -8C
  14. It looks like the island is in a lull before another area of heavy ppn moves in.
  15. Thanks Smartie that seems to have sorted it. Here's the snow in Gosport. Temp: -2.3C Wind: 5.0mph DP: -3.6C Windchill: -6.0C.
  16. I'm trying to upload some photos but keep getting the following error: 'There was a problem processing the uploaded file. -200'. The images are below the 7MB limit. Anyone know why?
  17. Anyone else find it annoying that the met office have disabled their weather maps. They have forecast heavy snow for us from 2100 to 2300 tonight so it would be nice to see the feature they reckon will deliver this on a map so you can see it's past track and it's predicted track. The UKMO seems to be at odds with the BBC. I wonder who is right. It's nice to see the green area on the netweather radar staying south of the isle of wight. Looks like there's some heavy bursts coming our way hopefully. The BBC still reckon we're in for another snow event tomorrow afternoon but the met office are having none of it.
  18. Light powdery snow falling in Gosport. It's been snowing most of the morning but intensity seems to have increased within last 30 mins. UKMO have upgraded their forecast to heavy snow for 2100 and 2200 tonight preceded by 3hrs of light snow. My own forecast on my website which appears to have stuck to it's guns for the past 24 hrs (after a week of flip-flopping and upgrading / downgrading) is forecasting 80% chance of snow tonight which is in agreement with the UKMO.
  19. Looking at Bayeux there's something of interest coming out of France. I Hope it's going to be a direct hit.
