  1. No snow here in Gosport but those clouds coming from Portsmouth look threatening.
  2. Are the Hi-Res Models still struggling to get a grip on the exact track and timings of storm emma and her fronts or have they pretty much got it nailed now?
  3. We've had a few snow flurries here in Gosport throughout the day but nothing of any significance. Current Conditions: Temp: -2.2 DP: -9.8 WC: -7.0 to -8.0 Grass Temp: -3.9. Wind: Avg: 12mph Gust: 12.0mph ENE. I'll be keep a close eye on the Netweather radar as the UKMO have disabled theirs on their website (https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/about-us/website/map-outage#?zoom=9&map=SignificantWeather) due to high levels of demand. So at a time when people really could use a radar they decided to disable it.
  4. Does anyone else find the new BBC Weather TV graphics bad at showing snow showers? I mean the wider snow areas are obvious by the fact that there are snowflakes superimposed on them but the showers just look like thick cloud / fog rolling in off the north sea. If it wasn't for the fact that I know snow showers are forecast and the presenter pointing to them I can see them easily being mistaken for cloud or fog.
  5. It's ice pellets with the odd snowflake here in Cosham. I think the Met Office were caught off guard as they only issued a snow warning at 0921 this morning which was several hours after the first reports of snowfall.
  6. Temps dropping in Gosport according to my weather station. Looks like it was right with it's sleet forecast. The met office said rain but my forecast said sleet.
  7. No, very wet snow. But hey ho all I wanted was to see snow after yesterday's rainfest.
  8. Met Office have downgraded their forecast for the Portsmouth area at 9am tomorrow to light rain with a temp of 2C. Temp here in Gosport has stabilised at 3.6C at the moment.
  9. Here in Gosport we've lost 1.0C in 5 mins. Current: 4.7C Dropping at -2.2C/hr.
  10. Bit windy today then was it. Met Office have upgraded Portsmouth Area to sleet for 0900 tomorrow.
  11. Rain stopped here in Gosport. Currently: 6.2C dropping at -2.6C/hr. Wind speed decreasing and direction veering to WNW-NW.
  12. Currently 7.6C Falling at -1.3C/hr. DP 6.1C. Baro:975.4hPa rising at +1.5hPa/hr here in the south of Gosport.
  13. Is it just me or has the Met Office page gone into meltdown as it's showing 'Sorry We're experiencing a problem getting forecast data. Please refresh the page or try again in a few minutes' for the Gosport forecast.
  14. Light Rain / Drizzle Temp: 4.1C DP: 2.2C here in Gosport. Going to get a few hours sleep as all this model watching has worn me out.
  15. Met Office still showing sleet for Gosport but heavy snow for Fareham at 1800. So Fareham has had an upgrade I wonder if Gosport could follow if it gets the temps sooner rather than later. This could come down to the wire. Would like to see the temp in Gosport drop sooner rather than later though as it's stabilised at 7.2C at the moment. Wind: 2 mph SE-S backing to ESE at times. Rain: 7.4mm Rate: 3.0mm/hr.
  16. Doesn't look like we are going to get snow here in Gosport. But then again if I remember rightly during the last snow event the MetO forecast sleet and we ended up with a brief snow shower. Rain: 5.2mm Rate: 5.2mm/hr. Temps stable.
  17. No temp change here in Gosport for last hour. Current Temp: 7.3C Dew Point: 6.4C Wind: Average: 2.5mph Gusting: 3.5mph backing from SW to SSE. Rain: 3.4mm Rate: 1.8mm/hr Light Drizzle.
  18. Wind is still predominantly SW averaging 2 mph but the MetO forecast reckons it should be backing to NE at 1500. Hopefully that will give the temp enough time to drop before the weather front clears through.
  19. Light Rain / Drizzle here in Gosport, Hants with temp of 7.5C but temps dropping at 0.5C/hr. Dew point 6.1C. Met Office have upgraded my forecast to sleet for both 1800 and 1900 with temps of 2C. They said this morning sleet at 1800 but now they are including 1900. Ali I also hope the MetO have got it wrong as I would love a bit of snow down here. But I bet it's going to turn out like it normally does in that towns to the north of Portsdown Hill get snow whilst towns to the south get stuck with rain. Damn that hill it's always messing up the weather. I'm clutching a huge handful of straws and hoping for at least some snow. I don't care if it doesn't settle just something other than cold rain would be nice for a change.
