Can you believe here in Shoebury I got as couple of flashes and rumbles out of that. Whoever is underneath that is gonna know about it, those clouds look menacing, lucky sods Typical, huge flash just now, lights flickered.
Well the heavens just opened themselves here, although it's eased off now. Pretty impressive lightning and thunder still going. I'd like some more please <_<
A few bright flashes as I was looking towards Southend/Westcliff direction. A couple of distant rumbles but thats about it for here. Seems to have just started raining though.
Here in Shoebury the road and pavement outside my house are still white, but still only a dusting. Thought the showers would have been heavier here, still the rest of the night yet though.
Just seen the latest on BBC 24, Peter Gibbs just mentioned disruption to travel during Monday. Sounds like it's going to be fun for me at work, I work for one of the local train lines into London. Hope it's not the wrong type of snow lol .
My cousin lives in Iowa and I haven't been able to contact her yet so a bit concerned now. It does look very bad indeed there at the moment, so really feel for the folks there. I think they've had the short straw this year with regards to the weather. Very cold and snowy this winter. My cousin said it's been the coldest and snowiest she has know since she moved there which was about 8 years ago, and now the flooding. Lets hope it improves very soon for them.
I remember this storm well. I recall going into my mum and dad and waking mum up and telling her there was a For Sale board going down the road and mum thinking I was sleepwalking told me to go back to bed and off I trotted. A little while later I went back in and told her there was a tree going down the road, this time dad was awake and told mum to have a look to see what was going on outside. Her response was "there's a tree going down the road". When I got up the next morning it was an awful sight, there was alot of debris and so many tree's down and even now some of the roads still look bare where they weren't replaced. This event will stick in my mind for a long time to come.
