    Isolated thunderstorms are likely to develop across parts of England and Wales from early Thursday morning before clearing by early Friday. While these storms may miss many places, where they do develop intense downpours are likely, bringing the threat of sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses. Lightning and hail may be additional hazards.

    I am hopeful something will happen by lucky chance later tonight but I already feel a sense of disappointment as there is definitely an east and north shift on coverage lately.

    Like others have said though, the period isn't here yet and I should take the forecasts with a pinch of salt and just wait and see what happens.

While these storms may miss many places, where they do develop intense downpours are likely, bringing a low risk of sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses. Lightning and hail may be additional hazards.

  4. Met office South and west forecast summary  This Evening and Tonight:
    A fine and very warm evening for many, although low cloud and coastal fog will gradually move in from the west overnight. Some patchy rain will also develop, with the risk of some thunderstorms by dawn in the east. Minimum temperature 14 °C.

    Thursday:
    A rather cloudy morning with some outbreaks of rain, however it will turn drier and brighter by the afternoon, with some sunshine developing. Feeling much fresher than of late. Maximum temperature 22 °C.


    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
    Friday will stay mostly dry and bright, but cooler and breezier. Some rain is possible later. It will stay fairly cloudy over the weekend but mostly dry with bright spells.
