The beast has barely kicked in and we have snow in east Oldham & Shaw. Very light and floaty but snow is better than no.

Be about -3 here..
I just looked at the GFS18Z snow charts and i think the shovel might be needed next week if thats ANYWHERE near right..
If you are going to need a shovel I think we will need the bulldozers out up here. We did with last proper beasterly.
As for meto they always fail to show snow penetrating western parts over the pennies on their forecasting and warnings.

Hi, Looking at the charts from the top 3 models and seeing that the projected easterly is by no means a weak flow, in fact quite robust I have no issues being on the west side of the pennines. Last time we saw charts like these snow depths were up to a foot in parts of the west with drifting up to 10 ft high.

3 - 4 inches on the tops of Oldham East and still coming down. Most snow of the season so far and the first time in a long while that I will have to walk to work!

A slushy thick dusting here which is now rapidly melting so no great shakes in terms of settled snow. Nice to see an hour or so of heavy snow though. Onwards to the next event.
On to the next ? looking at the models that will be sometime in February then which is annoying. We are definitely overdue a winter with a sustained cold & snowy pattern, that is for sure.

Good 50p size flakes coming down now. Best snow of the season so far I think.

We had heavy snow earlier tonight but that went slushy and now there is ice every where. Dreading the moped journey home later.
Looking at the rain today radar there is a massive front heading quickly this way from SW over the Welsh mountains. That's got to be more snow with my name on it ?

Strange reading about high temps in the region. Especially as it's snowing here now.

The wind is picking up a bit so its looking a little blizzardy out there now. About an inch down so far. Gonna be a fun moped ride to work in couple of hours

Snowing at this end of Oldham, looks very light and wet but has covered the ground already.
Getting heavy too now.

Please it’s not too much to ask, bbc have me down for snow but not the met office
The met office never do have under the Snow but we get it lol. Need to watch radars on the northward progression because its not out of the question for us to get in on some of the action. That said, it has been snowing the odd flake the past hour, nothing special though.

Someone from Oldham council just been on BBC news 24 saying they're expecting 20cm, obviously they haven't been updated of the southwards corrections then!
Not being funny mate but our company have put an alert out today for this area for the first time in donkeys years and they are expecting to be brought to a stand still. Whoever they are getting their premium info from has been correct so far.
If it's a correction south it isn't much and there is still a possibillty of another correction north. We shall see.

Looking at the radar looks like we are bang in the firing line of decent streamer activity. Gonna be an interesting weekend

There isn't no slushyness here and the last snow didn't melt. Hopefully I'm snowed in by monday

1 thought goes out to the homeless the other goes to those two streamers on the east and s east coasts. These will penetrate well inland and we might just catch that one in the east.
The snow has intensified a bit here now. It's blowing east to west rather than sky downwards ?
