I am not giving up on Winter yet !! The latest model output is showing some colder conditions in around 10 days.
The photo attached was taken on the 1st of March 2018 so anything can still happen . With all the predictions of a SSW in the near future I wouldn't rule out a BFTE late Feb early March .

Trains have been cancelled from 7pm this evening and there's no rush hour trains either tomorrow . ScotRail are taking it serioslusly.
Yes they are taking it seriously but I was thinking if the met office went for a red warning we might be looking at another January 1968 Glasgow storm .
Amber warning are bad enough still expecting a rough night but hopefully the winds don't manage to go to a direct Westerly which would funnel through the Forth/Clyde valley.

I was expecting a red warning for Scotland's central belt at some point today but looks like that's not going to happen .
Fingers crossed that will mean less severe impact for us up here . Stay save everyone .

As much as I would love it to reach Kinross (Have to pass over me in Perth) think it might make Pitlochry and fizzle out
yep you are probably right but we live in hope .

Something for everyone there. Maybe pick up a wee bit extra moisture over the Moray Forth.
what do you think the chances are of that big blob of snow managing to get as far South as Perth and Kinross ?

I wouldn’t worry to much about that. Looks really cold tomorrow. Not getting above 1 according to the met office. It’s changed so many times.
There is some milder air coming in with this system. However I am going along with others on here going with the BBC forecast . Any milder conditions will be short-lived as the bitter air sinks South again .
Still time for the track of the system to change so will be keeping a close aye on the later BBC forecast. Fingers crossed they stick to there guns and give most of the Central belt a good dumping of .

wow!! KW that a lot of information . Basically it looks mostly dry imby unless we get some disturbance in the Northerly flow giving enough percipataion to get over the mountains further North.
Looking like we have a good chance of a BFTE later on then it's game on !! .

Hi everyone , wow!! Have to say today's output has me thinking we might be on the verge of something special . This is looking like a long lived cold spell that is coming right in the heart of Winter how often does that happen ?
That low forecast for Wednesday looks like giving a good dumping of snow in the Southern half of the country but as far as imby goes I will be relying on disturbances in the cold N/NW flow.
Fascinating charts at the moment great to see what develops in the next few days .

Welcome to the forum Capri.
Not so sure that Perth will get snow at least at low levels though I suspect that your elevation at Binn Farm will be enough and Kinross too should get some snow. Hopefully Perth does get it as then I would have a chance just West of Dundee. Thanks for the welcome ? I would think you have a good chance of snow as the forecast seems to be expecting snow to lie at fairly low levels tomorrow . Anywhere away from the coast 50meters ASL should see snow gather but might turn back to rain later in the day .

Love an orange glow photo
Right I need to go to work early if it snows to cover some transport update info..... Do I need to set my alarm or will it be a sleety mess in perth tomorrow morning.... Million dollar question
I would say it will snow in Perth from around 7.00 am , going by the latest forecast I would be expecting snow rather than sleet tomorrow. I will be leaving Kinross and heading to Binn Farm (Glenfarg) at 5.30 am so hoping to get to work before the heavy snow arrives .

Unfortunately though as I am a new to all this not sure what it all means . I am trying to work out if there are any signs of any colder air heading from the East as we head into the end of Winter ?? .
