Channel lows are such rare beasts though. But surely we are due one!

When I was about 10 or 11 we had a massive dumping of snow along the southeast coastline, it was so big infact there was a big mound of slushy icy snow 1ft high and about 3ft wide all along the tide line at high tide, think that was about 91 or 92? never seen anything like it since, would love a repeat of that.

I personally think this year we should ban any form of model output discussion beyond T120....saves the major disappointments of years gone by !!:D:)....

Someone with waaaay more weather knowledge /chart reading abilities than me needs to set up a group that just discusses charts from T120 or less, which have a better chance of verifying! Would definitely save lots of toys being thrown and wrist slashing!

For me personally its too much of a roller coaster ride on the MOD thread, I try to only check it once a day usually, some times once every 48 hours if the inevitable down grades have happened and every ones on a downer.

You're forgetting THAT evil ECM that betrayed all hopes a few years ago, it changed output suddenly within T96, if I remember correctly. Maybe T48 would be better?

Defo going with the 48hrs window here from now on, and im defo not telling my kids about any potential untill I've actaully seen the snow falling in my vacintity with my own eyes!

Wasn't it 7 days or so ago we were due to have snow now? Seems that we will now get snow in about 7 days time. So will that be put back 7 days and so on?

From my few years on this forum the pushed back pattern of 7 or 10 days is definitely a "thing" from what ive experienced.

    I'm not gona keep falling into the same trap repeatedly.  Didnt Einstein say somthing along the lines of;

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"

Unless it's showing in the 48hr time frame,im not buying it!

We’ve not used the sledges since March 2013,when we had a big snowstorm here.

Hopefully we  all get to see some proper snow this winter, problem is if the usual weather pattern sets up again for Dec,it always seems to get locked in that pattern for months, the reason why their has been so little snow the last few winters.

well fingers crossed we have a different winter this time round! I'm trying to keep the faith,  I'm not gona lie, if we get another snow no show winter, I think ill give up chasing it.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Snow people had today on the last day of Autumn,is the only snow they see throughout the winter months ,which start tomorrow.

Looks very much like the usual pattern is setting up for Dec ,low pressure to the North ,and high pressure to the South, with some stormy weather too.

Back to fl to look for cold weather ,which never materialises 99% of the time anyway .

I'm one of the lucky ones who actually got some unexpected nice little snow flurries this morning, some pretty large solid flakes which even laid for a while too, kids enjoyed it on the way to school.  As lovely as it was I really hope that is not all the snow we get to experience this coming winter, I've got 4 virgin sledges which need breaking in and have been collecting dust in the shed for the last 5 winters!

Money is always a bit tight at this time of the year! Fair enough, wasn't meaning to be rude with my comments, bit frustrated with some of the melodrama on here. We could do with a nice cold snowy spell this winter for everyone to get their fix. Though if you spoke to most Canadians, I reckon that they'd tell you that their winters are not much fun and go on way too long.

no worries I didn't think you were rude at all! Ive often though of booking a snowy get away to get my snow fix but a recent change of circumstances have made that near on impossible, for the next few years atleast. I also totally get that the melodramtics can get tiresome, its just so very frustrating year after year after year of no snow, although I have to say last winter was the worst, it was the most boring mundain dry still winter I can ever remember here in the very far southeast, so anything we get this year will be an improvement on that, hopefully.

I do feel for you but we are still technically in autumn. So a whole 3 months to go of winter proper. There are no ways of predicting the weather that far out that I'm aware of, anything could happen. I do wish some people on here that are snow starved would do something about it. A trip to somewhere snowy, like the Alps, Scandinavia, etc, would get a guaranteed snow fix. Doesn't have to be expensive.

I know i keep reminding myself ive got another 12ish weeks of potential.

I wish it was that easy to just up and leave for a break to a glorious beautiful snowy destination like the Alps or Scandi, but money and time are super tight at the moment, its just not an option for us right now...so il just av to get my snow fix watching snow videos on the youtube, its really quite pathetic!

Wish I lived in Canada, in one of the places that get such great snow storms that when you go to leave the house in the morning you can't get out of the front door cos your greeted with a solid 7ft wall of snow! Snow Heaven.

That even makes this mild-lover feel sad!

god.... I made sooo many spelling mistakes in that post i'm surprised you even understood what i was trying to say!

kids of death = Kiss of death! for snow!

must proof read before hitting post

Have not even bothered to look at the models today...is there any improvement? I'm too scared to look...

Never convinced of cold, especially when certain posters enter the MOD thread and start hyping it up to increase their likes reputation, when to anyone with any sense, a disagreement in models means it will, 90 percent of the time, go tights up. It's not dramatic, it's not a roller coaster of a ride, it's just getting plain boring now.

You know what I totally agree with you.

After 5 years of no snow, I honestly thought this year was gona be differet.

Yesterday i let my excitememt at the prospects of potential snow override my better judgement, and I went and brought my kids snow boots and dry suits.

It all my fault, I'm like the kids of death.

I'm giving up on snow now.

I know it sounds dramatic but i cant handle the constant disappointment year after year anymore, cant believe my daughter is 6 years old and still hasn't seen proper laying snow.

And yes before anyone says it I know we havent even got into proper winter yet, but we all know how this winter is gona go dont we.

Edit. just wanted to add in not sure of who you mean re likes, i was refering to the later part of the post, just to clarify xx

  11. Trying to get onto my laptop and its decided to update, so annoying and takes forever...

Yes with regards to the ASL I actually added mine to my location so it shows on that bar from my snow chasing days, I'm actully below sea level here! not so great for snow...

So random this location thing because I really do most of my weather checking on my phone, i feel really dumb if its taken me the best part of a year to notice the location isn't on there when viewing the forum on my phone!

I could have swore it was on there from when I have been following snow potential posts in the past. strange.

Maybe I'm going a bit mad. lol.

Off to find tablet n see if that has location on it.

    thanks all.

  12. you see the top of your post, where your sun avatar is, if a member had added their location to their profile  ( I would say 70% did from what I remember) then it would show In that bar.

Also I'm currenty viewing on my phone so don't know if something has been altered at NW's end cos I view on my phone 80% of the time and the location was there from when I signed up a year ago, only noticed location not there in last 3 or 4 weeks?

  13. Sorry if I wasnt very clear, I mean it use to have the location in the top bit with the name and number of posts the person had made.

I can see you are in Darlington :-) if I click on ya avatar and view your profile, but before I didn't have to click and view the persons profile it was just In the members post header for every post they made.

edit. and yes have signed back out then in and cleared cache.

Ahhh, right you are. Well certainly more in the way of exciting weather than was expected for west Wales, fun day out I'm sure, I would have asked him if I could have gone along for the ride if I hadn't been busy earlier on today.:)

I would have liked to have tagged along too!

I was itching to say yes when he was asking for companions, but 3 kids put pay to any weather chasing for me.

Hoping we get our own storm come to my locality later this week, so not all is lost just yet hopefully.

Last post I saw from him he said that he was not going to go because no-one would go with him on the long round trip.

He changed his mind again and said he was just gona go for it.

I've not seen any posts but someone further up thread said he posted some pics in his Facebook page a few hours back so I guess hes ok and enjoying the ride!

At a first glance, you may think both frames are for today's storm. Actually, one is for Friday. Scary.

On the 00Z, the latter storm turned into this:

    One to watch.

The deep purples are over my area!

God I sooooo hope the 00z actaully comes off!
