Done well in many events when others haven’t but it’s ironic that what had the potential to bring one of the biggest snowfalls I’ve ever seen has gone completely wrong.
I know.... it's only weather but it is so disappointing when the hype gets carried away

Sadly just icy drizzle washing it all away, I honestly thought it was snow all the way til the weekend

Bit late in season for that, 11th Dec 2017 was the day
I know but.... there have been big freezes in March but like you say, bit late really.

The giant flakes have arrived here now. I know it means moisture but they are fun to watch! After hours of snow we do have a decent cover but it's very wet. Whilst I'm really grateful to have the long awaited snow event for all the fun it brings I would have liked the really good lasting deep snow followed by a freeze. There's just something magical about it in the bright sun when it's frozen. Still, this is really good to see.

Finally getting proper thick snow, coming down heavily and sticking. Been lampost watching on & off at work all night. Off to bed now, hoping for tons when I get up ❄

Disappointed to see a sudden mention of rain from the met office, an hour ago it was snow all the way, amber alert. That was very quick.

Snowed all day here but nothing settled until dark. I'm on night duty, had a quick look out window, grass is covered now.

I’ll install a massive fan and blow it your way. Can’t promise you much due to how light the snow has been (so far)

I knew there was a possibility of the front getting further North today resulting in more snow shields getting blasted apart, but surprised to see that it’s snowing (albeit lightly) already. Didn’t think the white stuff would get here till this afternoon. Quite a surprise
Please send it north ❄

Nothing here but the sky is full and I can definitely smell it ❄

I can't cope with the rollercoaster. Heavy snow, then rain, then no snow or rain. Then snow again ❄

I have just watched the ITV central weather and was disappointed to hear rain showers tomorrow then maybe a few sleet showers Tues Weds but mostly dry, what!!

I always tell myself not to get excited when I hear snow forecasts as often it doesn't happen. This time it seemed a dead cert, I've just taken a look at the mad thread and it's all doom & gloom. I can't believe it, I thought it was a definite ☹
-
I'm excited too but the MOD thread talks of " chance " and " might " now . Similar to BBC & Met office ☹ need some snow then we can enjoy spring.

Whilst I’m excited. I’m also a bit annoyed that this is happening into March. Even if it was a month earlier, we could have seen so much more effect from the deep cold. We can’t take away the fact now that solar input is many fold stronger than it would’ve been only a month ago, as we near to the peak acceleration rate of solar insolation per day. As good as the BFTE was, and 2013, even they felt somewhat ‘wasted’ compared to what they would’ve delivered in say late January. 1987 and 1991 were pretty much perfectly timed events.
I agree totally. If it were Jan / Feb we would ( possibly) be looking at deep snow that hangs around for days and when the weak sun appears makes it all beautiful for walking. However I'd rather March that not at all & then look forward to spring.

My birthday is very soon and I often get the present of snow so this incoming cold ought to deliver, albeit a snap rather than sustained cold

They will be soon enough, trust me. Why has February become such a warming month, I don't get it, my birthday is in middle of the Feb, and I always remember snow either before, during of after.
My birthday 24th of Feb and I often used to get a birthday snow present. I'm hoping this year

Dense fog here for most of the day and -3 currently. Snow on the ground in the shade just not enough of it. I've enjoyed watching it twinkle on the lawn! Love looking at the animal tracks across the field, knowing who has walked there over night.

Well I have heavy rain beating on my windows. Going to put the outside light on to see if there is a smidgen of snow in it. Depressing!
