  1. Properly foggy in Manchester, which kept the temp up at 9c this morning.
  2. Those photos are of the reservoir bypass above Dovestone reservoir. See http://www.doveheritage.com/tunnel-under-the-hills/ for some history. Anyway: we have an amber alert for wind overnight. When was the last time that happened? I don't remember one last winter.
  3. Quite foggy here this morning, I wasn't expecting that. It's only clearing just now.
  4. Same here. 10mm in 24h, enough to avoid watering, but hardly a deluge.
  5. Just like yesterday, we're under light rain while the heavy stuff is off to the side. Today the fun is to our east, yesterday to the north west. Meh.
  6. You forgot the howling wind. Flippin' freezing you mean! And it looks thoroughly overcast for Manchester. Why does it have to be either 29C or 16C? Wouldn't 23C be much nicer for everyone? With a bit of sunshine that would be perfect.
  7. Sun's out again, yay! Hoping for something good by 1800, as I'm at work on the 11th floor in central Manchester with views in all directions.
  8. Overcast and spitting rain in central Manchester now. Temp at the airport has stalled at 23 for a few hours now.
  9. I lit the fire last night, then picked up a free log walking my daughter home from dance.
  10. Haha, there's so much lightning that the NW radar app is almost unresponsive on my phone. Too much for it to render properly.
  11. Mine dried in 30 minutes in the wind and warmth, so it's worth a stab.
  12. Just enough rain to wet the streets here, now the sun is out again. It was a lot more intense a little to the west of me. It's still very warm and humid so has the potential to go again later.
  13. Thunder heard from south Manchester. It's building fast now.
  14. A line of intense precipitation along the M6 near Stoke now. Moving northwards.
  15. At the nearest Wunderground station to me, it was been the wettest day since November 18th. 21.8mm will make a huge difference to us gardeners. Now we need some warmth to hurry everything along.
  16. Woo! 4mm of rain and the sun's out again. It will all have evaporated by teatime.
  17. Bring it on! But it's going to have to pep up quite a bit to penetrate more than a centimetre into the soil in Manchester.
  18. Another beautiful day in Manchester city centre, wall-to-wall sunshine. Pity about the stiff breeze, would be a lovely day for lounging about otherwise. We've now had a week with not a drop of rain, and only 5mm in the week before that. Nothing on the cards for the next week so we may be looking at an absolute drought by next Saturday. The forecast is cloudy for the weekend, of course.
  19. Weather warning out now for winds gusting to 60/70 mph on Friday.
  20. Oh, I'd be delighted with that, cold, bright winter's days really lift the spirits. But here in the NW we've had day after day of gloom. Same here today, with not a breath of wind to give the hope it might blow away. We do have the tiniest amount of snow falling, about 1 flake per square metre per minute.
  21. Aaaaaagh, the weather is sooooo BORING right now. A week of leaden grey skies, not a breath of wind, the merest hint of drizzle and one sunny day. And next week's forecast is basically the same.
