Well just like many times in the past, the forecasts are looking good for thundery weather and I am getting hopeful and excited thinking that it will actually happen.
But based on the amount of failed events so far, it would be quite a miracle for this to actually develop intense storms, so I must remember to keep myself from getting excited too much as it isn't good for my health when the possible disappointment occurs.
Know that feeling too well, but this time with so many models in agreement my heart is pumping with anticipation even though it's prepared for a bust.Again.

During my holiday, if there is any thunderstorms, ill try to keep you updated. Since there will be no internet (it's one of those activity-based PGL trips), ill be using 4G.
Good luck for Tues/Wed night...Current indications look encouraging. If you strike lucky on IOW then at least I can see it from here and I'll settle for that.

I'm in the IOW next week, it would be great if we could get some storms! (And i may not be able to post much from Monday-Friday).
Good luck for next week...If things develop along the lines that models are suggesting (oh that word if) you should be rewarded on IOW. as should most of us storm starved Kent clipped victims in Southern Coastal Counties..Stay optimistic!!

I have a similar view from Hastings.
I'm guessing that what we are seeing is the overhang from the storms on the other side of the channel..Thumbs up for a northward heading drift!!

Welcome to the new thread, everyone! Tomorrow looks like a very small chance, but i'll still keep an eye out on model outputs.
Heres hoping!! I will settle for a few flashes visible over the Channel after dark..Will be interesting to see how things develop over Northern France

So a thundery low coming up from France is now once again a non-event for down here but expected to produce the goods up north again? Why does this keep happening?
So infuriating. In future when the TV forecasts are put out stating thunder risk from France I think I will ignore them..They cover themselves by using language implying the risk is there but their graphics showing lightning flashing away over the South Coast gets our juices flowing only to have it taken away..Im only going to take notice of our own Nick F on here. He,s brilliant. He doesn't over or underplay events that must be a forecasters nightmare..

Any reason to be cautiously optimistic for Sunday into Monday down here on the South Coast?

Can see the tops of the cells over Northern France through the haze from Saltdean...They look like they are getting nearer , or have I been skygazing too long?

Jesus H Christ it's unpleasant out there.
Any chance of anything drifting out of France with Brighton's name on it? Or anywhere aong South Coast..Wall to wall sunshine and very hot but the breeze off the sea seems to be increasing..

A lot of the fun is the anticipation. I felt a bit withdrawn after the cracking storms on May 26th/27th, as there was nothing much to do, until the next time. I love all the posting and banter in here, as a few 'genuine' pixels start appearing on the radar.
Me too buddy ,hers hoping for something to just pop up out of the blue...Its happened before

Sticky af here on the southcoast
Yet there's not a single drop of rain in store any time soon, let alone a storm.
Never mind there's always next time.
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
And the time after that
etc....
Maybe by 2050 we'll get a good storm.
I feel your pain ,,,I'm in Saltdean not so far from Worthing ..We just don't seem to get those storms drift across the channel from France anymore

Fingers crossed!! If we can get the atmospheric conditions right, seems that it could be rife for some highly electrified storms. Let's just hope this isn't now going to be a westerly Atlantic dominated drab fest.
Hopefully not..Years ago I seem to remember hearing BBC weather presenters saying things like ''But there could well be some thunderstorms moving up from France'' Used to love hearing that!! But for the last 10years or so I've noticed that summer storms moving through France heading North seem to veer North-Eastwards mid channel, thereby missing Brighton where I live out of the firing line...Any ideas as to why we don't seem to get those beefy South -North storms any more? They seemed to track along the meridian and then up the spine of the UK. Sadly not any more...

These storms are horrible to watch for me, as I live in Chichester and would be prime location to chase. However I am currently in Barnstaple on holiday, a hundred miles away from the action! Shame I wasn't here Friday night!
Enjoy Fellow southerns, this really is a beaut of a storm!
Awwww better luck next time buddy

I'm guessing our next lot of storm potential in this corner of the country is now shifting to tomorrow night? Anything forming here now will be on its way north as it develops so we need to look to France for some imports etc over the next 48 hours.
I think you are right ..looking good for Sun night, fingers crossed
