That exactly happened last year when I went to the IOW. We got none where we were (despite being in the center of the warning zone), and hastings got a narrow, MCS-like line of storms, which traveled all the way out into the north sea...it was the worst. (And when i got back, everyone was talking about it!)

    That's cruel.Fingers crossed this time..lol

Well just like many times in the past, the forecasts are looking good for thundery weather and I am getting hopeful and excited thinking that it will actually happen.

But based on the amount of failed events so far, it would be quite a miracle for this to actually develop intense storms, so I must remember to keep myself from getting excited too much as it isn't good for my health when the possible disappointment occurs.

Know that feeling too well, but this time with so many models in agreement my heart is pumping with anticipation even though it's prepared for a bust.Again.

I'm in the IOW next week, it would be great if we could get some storms! (And i may not be able to post much from Monday-Friday).

Good luck for next week...If things develop along the lines that models are suggesting (oh that word if) you should be rewarded on IOW. as should most of us storm starved Kent clipped victims in Southern Coastal Counties..Stay optimistic!!

So a thundery low coming up from France is now once again a non-event for down here but expected to produce the goods up north again? Why does this keep happening? :wallbash:

So infuriating. In future when the TV forecasts are put out stating thunder risk from France I think I will ignore them..They cover themselves by using language implying  the risk is there but their graphics showing  lightning flashing away over the South Coast gets our juices flowing only to have it taken away..Im only going to take notice of our own Nick F on here.  He,s brilliant. He doesn't over or underplay events that must be a forecasters nightmare..

Sticky af here on the southcoast

Yet there's not a single drop of rain in store any time soon, let alone a storm.

Never mind there's always next time.

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    And the time after that

    etc....

Maybe by 2050 we'll get a good storm.

I feel your pain ,,,I'm in Saltdean not so far from Worthing ..We just don't seem to get those storms drift across the channel from France anymore

Fingers crossed!! If we can get the atmospheric conditions right, seems that it could be rife for some highly electrified storms. Let's just hope this isn't now going to be a westerly Atlantic dominated drab fest.

Hopefully not..Years ago I seem to remember hearing BBC weather presenters saying things like ''But there could well be some thunderstorms moving up from France'' Used to love hearing that!!   But for the last 10years or so I've noticed that summer storms moving  through France heading North seem to veer North-Eastwards mid channel, thereby missing Brighton where I live out of the firing line...Any ideas as to why we don't seem to get those beefy South -North storms any more? They seemed to track along the meridian and then up the spine of the UK. Sadly not any more...
