At home in York we were in the firing line this morning, with a storm passing overhead at 7:30-8:00am.
I'm now at work near Malton and deep rumbles are approaching once again.
Winter tyres are on I'm actually heading just north of Castle Howard. The hill up Mains Lane from Barton crossroads is probably going to be the tricky bit. The Stamford Bridge road might be the safer option.
Just received the NW Storm Radar app notification for torrential rain in my vicinity, which is correct! That probably explains my other notification for slower than usual traffic in my area. Checked the traffic on googlemaps and it's all slowed down around here - I reckon driving visibility must be very poor at the moment
Frequent flashes/rumbles and very heavy rain near Malton again. Went REALLY dark before it started. First time we've ever seen the automatic floodlights around the office come on mid-morning.
Captured this just before it moved overhead, constant rumbles and occasional forks - tried hard but didn't capture any in a burst of over 2000 photos! Now it's very heavy rain and still rumbling on.
I'm NE of York in the Howardian Hills, looking out SSW over the Vale of York, so will be keeping an eye on developments throughout the day. Looking at the radar the main activity seems to be NW of here at Thirsk.
