The morning started off with heavy cloud as soon as it got light the cloud soon burnt off giving a mostly clear to partially cloudy day with some fairly strong breezes blowing making it feel much cooler than the 14c recorded. The wind chill has brought it down by nearly 4c. The pressure is dropping but only by .3 of a mb. All in all a very pleasant day if you can stay out of the way of the wind. Back after a great week in the wildest outbacks of Somerset. It was up an excuse for a road, I have seen wider footpaths. So now back to normality. The nicest day we have seen for quite some time. The sky has been mostly clear and sunny for the best part of the day a bit of cloud building up occationally but it soon cleared away again. After a dull damp start the cloud managed to clear just enough to give a spell of drier brighter weather with a few sunny periods. How ever this month is still managing to stay above the average monthly Temperature I will never know. Rainfall is now just gone above the average monthly rainfall. Still dull and overcast but it has calmed down from around 4.30 p.m till 6 p.m, when we had some fairly heavy rain, thunder and lightening. Mainly cloudy Bright it looks like the sun is about to make an appearance. South Derbyshire has gotten off very lightly with the current storms with just a few rummbles of thunder in the distance and the odd burst of moderate to heavy showers but nothing lasting for more than an hour or so. I am still looking at a record low rainfall for the year here in Newhall and so far I am at least 200mm below my lowest total. Will have to wait and see what the final four months of the year throw at us.
