Local roads are sheer ice, very crunchy under foot. It took 15 minutes to get the car sorted out this morning. -4 still at 9.30. Looking forward to more scenic scenery that snow brings. My kids are sledging still so it's nice and quiet !!!

I would settle for just one day of proper snowfall, time will tell. I dare not post in the model thread this year, some proper weird people getting the hump over something that may or may not happen!

It's just taken me 55 minutes to drive from Durham to Aycliffe. Roads in the region are awful ?

Both my children's schools are shut. There was no chance anyway of getting them their. Quite bad here to be fair.

I have just been sat off the A1 with the A61 Ripon turnoff. Absolutely whiteout for about 20 mins. Now blue sky and sun. Couldn't make it up ?

All kicking off about poor snowfall in the Yorkshire thread. As Doc said this morning, we had more here in the January spell. I await 10ft by tonight or.im calling this spell a write off ?

I just didn't understand why give an Amber warning if it's just of low likelihood? Unless they are unsure of convection????? I'm still learning!

Our Met guy is going for 14:00 to 23:55 low likelihood/ Medium impact for North East today. Tues and Wednesday again low likelihood/Medium impact for us, but Amber warning? He is based at the Met Office.
