Nature of showers buddy. i live on the Moorside so had about 4” lying first thing this morning. Maybe lost an inch where the sun could reach but now we’ve had two showers and my pathway looks like it hasn’t been cleared these showers are intense..

You are well in the firing line for tonight and tomorrow.. Again not gospel as I could get the showers and you could miss them or vice versa but I think we are in a good location for these heavy Anow showers given the intense cold they’ll have no problem adding up... ? Edit: Anow shower ??. considering is hammering it down I’ll keep that new word...

Thankyou. I’ve got 4 full gas bottles on now lots of wine I’m sorted.. All snow days are good days for me. It’s truly stunning inbetween showers.

Piling up now if this is a sign of things to come for tonight and tomorrow.. I’ll have a foot in no time been snowing heavy for about 25mins and dumped about an inch.. amazing to watch.

If you look at the bottom image just off our east coast there’s a bolder line that looks like a boomerang that’s what is going to give us the heavy showers Tonight and tomorrow. If you look further east near Scandinavia there’s a much larger Boomerang shaped line heading for us on those Easterly Winds.. Could bring some much heavier snow to the region.. hope ive explained that well enough.. lol

It’s getting ridiculously cold tonight icicles compact snow, Black ice the lot. Anything landing as dark sets in of the main routes will start to build up. Just got to hope your area is selected for a good chain of showers then by morning you should start to see accumulations. Tomorrow’s low temps should’t reach above freezing all day so again if you are lucky enough to have frequent showers/Mergers or even better Streamers you should do well.. dont take that as gospel as it will all depend on where the main Showers hit..

We want it to pee off completely if we favour you favour a more prolonged Cold spell.. This has been in the Models for sometime now and it’s always been unclear as to its exact track. It’s closer to the time now so it’s in the reliable stage for it to hit the UK at least, It’s going to create a North/South split temp wise and a battle ground as snow will stall possibly somewhere central UK And depending on its track and extent it could cause problems for our region more so the south west. In March 2013 it was a Low coming up from the SW similar to this that stalled over Central UK and give us 24-36 hours of continuous snow with massive Snow Drifts especially over the higher routes. Its swings and roundabouts. The whole hype regarding this Cold spell/Beast from the east has always insisted that snow won’t effect everyone and if that’s “You” (Not you in general Terrier lol) then you have been unlucky. Weather changes at a moments notice a slight change in wind etc can change the direction of Showers or more persistent snow 10miles, 25 miles 50miles,100miles you get the idea. I hope tonight/tomorrow & Thursday gives the guys that have missed out so far some persistent snow to get something out of this I really do nothing better than a happy Forum. If not let’s hope that Storm Emma reaches this far north or at least part of her to give us all a snow event.. And who knows hopefully the cold bites back and gives us another week of Cold Snowy conditions it’s definitely possible... PS. Sorry for the long post had to get that off my chests after reading everyone deflated posts making me want to take a bucket of Snow to each so they can at least tell all their friends “ I got a bucket full of snow yesterday “

Same in 2013 we had to get dug out by the farmers as there was 15ft snow drifts..

No Addingham Moorside.. ?. Road has just been ploughed and Re gritted.. Still -0.5c here Showers have been going on all morning recent ones have added to the snow and started covering the road again. I expect a big freeze starting this evening then the potential of some more organisationed showers tonight and into tomorrow. Might miss me but if they don’t it will be getting a little worse for ware up here. Glad I’ve stocked up on everything.. Gas been the most essential im so happy I ordered two new bottles on Wednesday last week in preparation.

Yup as expected further upgrades with the Amber warning more south affecting parts of the north ad north east of our region with it extended to Thursday also.. Thanks for that Tayzi

-1c currently where I live with 4” lying snow and just started snowing again and heavier snow showers forcasted for laters this afternoon into tonight with the potential of a few merging a big freeze tonight hopefully icicles will develop that would be nice and something I haven’t seen in years followed by the coldest temperatures and most frequent snow showers and Streamers are increasingly possible for some prolonged periods of snow for some. I think we definitely have potential to do well.. its always been about today onwards when the winds start to drive in that really cold air. The system that came through this morning was a bonus I know some are disappointed as it went slightly more north however I stand by what I said earlier I fully expect at least 4” lying widely for our region. Given the Powder nature of the snow due to how cold the air is a lot of snow drifts especially in higher communities.

I wouldn’t be surprised if further updates for Wednesday to the warnings for our region..

Patients guys. Today and Tomorrow the showers intensity.. Yes the system produced more snow for the northern parts of East & West Yorkshire and most of North Yorkshire snow depths differing from town to town, Village to Village. The southern half of the region has seen the least but there’s still plenty of snow showers starting to pile in which could still give some good accumulations today and into tomorrow. Someone is always going to be disappointed due to the fact these are showers but hopefully as they merge the disappointed will be minimal by the end of the Week...

Like looks like we hit the sweet spot for once buddy...? if we get those heavy showers also we could end up with some great totals..
